I am 34 and my period just stopped last January. I am having all kinds of wierd systoms. I hated having my period, but know with all these systoms I feel like I am losing my mind, I been forgetful, confused, unfocused, irritable, having all kind of mood swings, hot flashes, cryind spell and serverly depressed. I have had a lot of stress in the last year. One I am a Hurricane Evacuee from New Orleans, I lost my home and relocated to a small town in Kentucky. At first thing were going well but then my daugther became ill and was in and out of the hospital for 10 months, my son just lost his my and was causes allsort of problems, from drug abuse to just pure deliquentcy. I have not been able to keep a job. I hate my husband who move to Kentucky to help me with the Kids, but has not really been any help, just one more person for me to be responsivable for. And I have no friend or family to depend on. Now that I've said of that does any one have any suggestion for me I need to fix this before my whole life falls apart.

    Dear desperate,

Not having a period can come from stress. You sound as if you are going through menopause but this may be due to stress also. Remember who you are and the strength that you have inside. Women tend to be superwomen and try to take care of everyone and everything. And we do it very well, but sometimes it becomes too much. I have been were you are and it sucks really bad. I always told myself that I must have a mansion in heaven because I surely would not have it on earth. I have four kids that put me through . Now they are grown but still depend on me. You need to focus on what you need too. Although you time is consumed by everyone else you must find something that is for you and you along. I dont know how old you kids are but if they are older you must let them go and learn from their mistakes. Don't try to fix things for them all the time. Believe me I talk from experience. I was too tired to fight with them so I did everything for them. This worked at the time but now that they are older I see how damaging this was to them. You can't save everyone. Focus on your health ...try to get some stress relief...whether it be running or relaxation exercises. Remeber this is another trial in your life that has some purpose. It will teach you something that is necessary for your growth. I know that sucks but it is true. We all have trials that we must face and how we face them reflects on the strengh we have inside us.

    1. Set limits on what you have to deal with. Let everyone else deal with the rest
    2. Eat healthy and take vitamins
    3. Be consistant in your decisions
    4. Make lists of things that need to be done. Then mark them off as they are completed. this can be everything from cleaning your room to getting a job. This will give you a sense of accomplishment which is crucial during times of depression.
    5. Say NOOO!!
    6. Create a budget... This will help you see a light at the end of the tunnel
7.Help your children but do not do things for them. Let them learn to do for themselves

    Good luck
