Hi. I am new here. Hoping to get some advice. About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with gastroparesis(slow moving stomach) ibs-d, fructose intollorance, and more. I also have had hypothyroidism for most of my life, which can cause weight gain. I don't know how I gained all this weight. I can't eat much because of the gastroparesis (soft foods like pasta) and I can't eat fruits (fructose intollorance) and no veggies (gastroparesis). I started drinking v8 juice cause liquids are very easily digested. I am never hungry I don't know why. Cause of my weight or the conditions. I recently found out I have a protruding disc in my back caused by the weight. It is so hard to exercise with that. My physical therapist told me to walk. Since I can't do regular exercises because of the disc. Can you lose weight just walking? I mean can it make my stomach smaller/shrink???? That is what I want to know. I know it will help my legs, but can I lose the fat off my stomach by walking?? Thanks so much. By the way, I am considered obese. I am 5'4 and weigh 216 pounds.

Walking will help you lose weight everywhere including your stomach. Interval walking (walking up hills occasionally or speeding up for a few minutes at a time) can trim belly fat very effectively.

If you are an undereater, you could be in ketosis which makes you feel not hungry even though you're in desperate need for fuel. Hopefully exercise will increase your appetite because not eating can make you gain and/or hold onto weight as well as overeating. I became overweight eating only one meal a day!

If you go to a calorie counter, it will help you determine how many calories your body needs to function optimally without compromising your metabolism. For losing weight, it's AT LEAST 1200 before exercise and when you exercise you need to eat more. Your current weight and height will likely give you a higher calorie range for losing weight at first. And you really do need to eat so your body doesn't think it needs to hold onto reserves just to survive.

Another thing you can do is some kind of resistance training. A lot of your muscles are probably dormant and reactivating them will get them burning fat more efficiently.

    All the best!

Walking 30 minutes a day at an excelrated pace will do wonders. I started off 30 mins a day on my lunch hour. NOw, I'm running on the treadmill30-40 minutes in additon to weight lifting. You can try weight lifting, it will help burn the fact while your resting. Walking will definately help though.

walking is great. I also use a stationary exorcise bike to help burn away the bulge. I find it's a lot more forgiving on my joints than walking. Some people find it a little boring but I usually blast music and sing along to keep myself entertained (which also boosts my endurance for my lungs which is great since I have asthma so every little bit helps) Also free weights are great, just don't over do it with them, start out with a weight that you're comfortable lifting without injury. It's the high reps that will help to burn fat and build lean muscle, not necessarily the weight of them. Good luck

    Hi...
I'm wondering what these supplements might be... I need all the help I can get I joined a gym two months ago and I do the machine weights and alternate between the tread mill and bicycle. I have yet to see any results.

I lied. I have seen some results. My legs have gotten stronger. I can cross them now with out using my hand to pull one up!! But I was hoping for more by now. I need to loose about 75 lbs.
