    Hi

I am 21 years old and i hate my body figure! I'm a size 6 and i feel really unattractive. I really want to put on some weight fast as being like this is making me depressed! I want to be a tight size 8/hitting 10. Apprantly i have a high metabolism..

Can anyone help me or give me any advice on how to gain weight. I really need to know what foods to eat and what exercises to do and I want to know if changing my diet will actually work and i will gain some weight?

Hello Uzma, I have to admit I chuckled ruefully when I read your post. It seems no one is happy with what they have. We've got a number of ladies here who would give their eye teeth to have your problem. Simply put, unless you have a health problem such as thyroid, your weight is a function of calories taken in and calories burned. Keeping a healthy diet but eating a bit more would do it, wieght work to build muscle which weighs more than fat might help.

Why not start with a check up to make sure you don't have anything like an under/over active thyroid and then see about meeting with a trainer at a local gym? They are trained to help you assess you ideal weight range and can then help you develop a plan to get there.

Thanks for that WildChild but i actually went to the doctors but i felt as though she was not bothered and all she said was that they will take a blood test to see if everything is ok with me (which hopefully is ok anyway as it hasn't been too long since i had my last blood test)

I guy the other day called me 'matchstick' and that really put me down and i just burst into tears. Do you think going to a Nutritionist will help? I don't want to go to one and paying them knowing that i still don't put the weight on.

Why not start by "googling that word" and see "what they do"..

They can help an abundance of people, usually though what their body needs, that individual person so it makes sense.

Never, let some random person put you down, smile and say "thanks", it's cute huh and walk off, that person will get a shock of their life but also think "good for her"and immediately change their tune.

What about Avocados, nuts, things high in fat but are good for you, in-corporating those things into your diet..

Can I ask what you actually eat on an average day?

Some men like hefty women, some like one who is slender. Good thing too since we come in all shapes and so do men. Don't let some jerk set your standards and make you uncomfortable with yourself. Who is he, that you would give him so much power in your life?

Some stretching and toning may give your shape more definition. Lift and shape your tush, define your waist and hip line. You can have a feminine shape in any size. I have an aunt who has been a plus size lady for many years but she keeps toned and dressed to emphasize her good features and she turns heads. Look at some of the very slightly built actresses such as Kiera Knightly and Calista Flockhart, they are lovely women.

Hi. First go to a pharmacy and get your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels tested. These tests cost very little (If anything) and if they are ok, the chance is, everything is fine. You should get blood tested for thyroid functioning and if you current GP is unhelpful, get a new one to whom you can talk. A GP appointment should not just be in and out and end up with you leaving unhappy. It should consist of questions on your lifestyle, emotional health and medical history.
That said it is very possible that you’re completely healthy. I wouldn’t suggest you over stuff yourself. Eat healthily but do compare the amount with that of your friends and try to keep up with them. Also go to the gym, this might sound counter productive, but building muscle (not too much cardio, only 20min warm-up) can help you look curvier. Also your 21, and there is a big chance your body will soon change. I suddenly gained weight and got all curvy at about the age of 24. A friend of mine was very skinny till about thirty and then suddenly (with allot of time in the gym) became full-bodied. But for now there is allot you can do to appear and feel better about yourself. Tanning (not too much, just a healthy glow) and working on your posture will go a LONG way. Also your clothes matters. Don't go with baggy clothes!!! Large belt-buckles are very popular now and they will create a hip-waist effect. Cropped jackets and boots are great in the winter because they give you volume without compromising shape. In the summer months go with wide, knee-length skirts: they will make you look feminine and hide thin legs. No T-shirts: they will make your arms look extra thin. And no low-cut tops or boob tubes or spaghetti straps. Rather try high-cut tops with short sleeves (just about half the shoulder should be covered. Also ask you hair dresser to help out with a cut that will draw attention to good features: usually short hair works well for thin girls, and light brown (nothing drastic like very white, black, or red). Think soft and sensual. And the biggest tip is to smile and enjoy yourself and be confident. There is nothing better than a beautiful personality to draw away attention from any little pet peeves. ;-)
