O.K. I have an odor that seems to come and go, with ocassional burning with urination, and a slimy discharge (sorry, gross) that also seems to come and go (not ovulation). I went to the gyn in Nov and she done a wet mount. Said she saw a few clue cells and gave me flagyl. I took it and some of the symptoms seemed not so bad, but never completely went away. I took a second dose of flagyl. Now here I am and I still have odor, occasioanl burning, and a discharge that seems to come and go. Has anyone ever experienced BV that doesn't seem to go away even after treatment, and what do I do about it? Could it be something else?
A week course is usually enough, i know you have probably looked all of this up already but do you stay away from bubble baths, soap etc? also, what is your diet like?
Yes I have..U might want to read this..and ask your doctor about this!well I have always wanted to join one of the thousands of Bv forums.. But I was so discouraged and lost. I am 25 years old andI have been suffering from BV since 2002- Yes 2002 Chronic Bv.Ihave lived in Alabama, Lousianna, Georgia, and I am now residng in Deagu South Korea. All but my doctor in Korea has told me the same thing"your PH this your Ph that. Dont douche. No tampons. Dove soap. Boil you under wear. Eat yougurt. Peroxide Douche. Take Acidoldopulus whatever. Take Folic acid. Tea bag this and that. " Yeah and the list goes on. My first time going tothe doctor in Korea he did a culture and it came back that I had ureaplasma urealyticum.the dcotors have been diagnosing me incorrectly ALL OF THESE YEARS. It tends to have the same sympton of Bv and they are somewhat connected but it is hared to treat. I said that to day this. When you go and get a culture donw next time ask your doctor to test u for it. SERIOUSLY. Trying all these perioxide douches and teas bag remedies and yogurt inserts is only making things worse.Yeah it temporary releives the symptons but it come right back huh? That's becuase it may be something else and this ureaplasma urealyticum is serious.I urge everyone to at least look into it. It's a shame i had to come all the over for a check up to find out that our American doctors have been failing us. PLEASE at least look it up! PLeASE!. ASK you Doctor .The procedure is the same for bv testing and std testing..They just DONT test u for it.It's more convienient for them to give u FLagyl. If u want to know more SKYPE me or leave me a message.GOD BLESS I hope this helps!
My PH is an 8. Needless to say, I am having a lot of burning and discomfort in my pelvic area and inside. My urine feels so hot : (
I have been through so many tests and nothing has come up positive. Although I was treated for Ureaplasma several months ago. I was re-tested after treatment with Doxycyclene and everything came up negative.
In August, I felt like I was getting a bladder infection. After 2 urinalyses, it was determined that I didn't have a bladder infection. Then the burning began ...
My doctor thinks I have BV because my PH is so high. I have taken Clindamyacin and now I'm taking Terazol 7 for a yeast infection that I don't have. The burning and discomfort goes away when I get my period and then comes back with a vengeance as soon as it's done.

Do any of these symptoms sound familiar to you?
Thanks.

I have got to say that John3913's advise is NOT GOOD!
Eating loads of Baking Soda is a ridiculous suggestion and could actually prove to be incredibly harmful. Not only does will this increase the sodium levels in the body to dangerous levels, but it will also change the acidity of the stomach itself, which will then generate more and more acid to balance it out. there are much more healthier ways to adjust the ph in the body and bring it back into balance and that is by looking to whole foods.
John3913, did you know that if someone had high blood pressure and followed your advise that the increase in sodium levels could further increase blood pressure and then who knows what could happen.

gotdablues, yes I have had burning with urination which when this all begin I would think i was getting and UTI, but always tested negative. I also have times where my back and pelvis would hurt. Plus, this is weird but I get stabbing pains occasionally around the vaginal opening. The first time I was given metronidazole the gyn said she only saw a few clue cells and everything looked normal, but wanted to treat me anyways. The medicine helped, but it wasn't long to the symptoms was back full force. This the gyn said I had bv and gave me metronidazole again and finally I now have a prescription for clindamycin. Also if they see white blood cells on the wet mount then you could also have cervicitis as well.
Oh, and I also agree that the baking soda advice is a bad idea. It can be used for an antiacid but it also could potentially cause harm especially when too much is taken. Always research and never take medical advice seriously from the internet.
I've been going through a lot of the same symptoms for about 9 months now, sweety. Random, stabbing pains, burning, occasional odor and white-ish discharge, comes back after my period. Blah. I just finished a 5 day dose of Metrogel for BV, after I tried 2 doses of Diflucan that didn't work.
I've been through this cycle about 3 times now and it's incredibly frustrating. I was told by a vaginitis specialist that I have vulvar dermatitis and was given steroid ointment. It helps some, but doesn't seem to be the solution.
