Unhappy Oily skin, messy makeup, dry skin, help!

Hi y'all! So, I have combination skin... any cleanser (even dove soap which doesn't dry out the rest of my body skin) dries my face and it gets white and flaky. So I use oil free face lotion and apply powder foundation. But two hours later, my forehead, nose and cheeks are oily and shiny, while my chin and lips are both oily and dry. I've had this problem for years and I just don't know how to fix it.

On top of that, because my skin gets oily, my makeup shifts. After a few hours it looks like I put my makeup on in the dark.... eyeshadow is blotchy and has fallen below my eyes, my eye liner is smearing, my mascara flakes off.

I'm so frustrated so I barely wear makeup and just try my best to hide my oily skin wiht foundation, but does anyone have any suggestions for routines or products (whether skincare of makeup)

    I'd really appreciate it!

p.s. also, I used to have bad acne, it has cleared up for the most part but I have occasional breakouts.

Why not visit some of the higher end skin care counters in a department store and get some samples to try? See what might work for you? I'm thinking Origins, Clinique and such. They usually ahve those little samples with a few days supply that they can give you. If that doesn't fly, meet with an esthetician?

It should help if you apply powder over your foundation. It acts as a sealer. Also apply foundation and powder on your eyelids before eyeshadow, that should keep it in place. The powder also helps to blend the eyeshadow better.

Woops forgot to mention to try a liquid foundation then apply powder. Also it might help to use a primer.

My skin is exactly the same as yours! I use Tea Tree Oil face wash by the body shop. It takes the extra oils out of my skin and its not soap based so it doesnt dry out my skin. Never forget to moisturize. You face will try to replenish itself after washing (striping it of dirt and oils) so if your current moisturizer isnt right for your skin type that might be causing a problem for you as well. You might need to look at changing that instead. I really like mac lightful moisturizer. Its not heavy cream but it really soaks into the skin. If you dont want to spend that much. Mark Cosmetics makes a great one called MATTE moisturizer.

another trick... keep a blot powder with you during the day. and touch up. Blot powder is alot lighter and wont like like your regular powder. it basically just absorbs the shine/oils.

    Hope this helps!

Make-up isn't at its best when it's applied over oily skin sometimes. I have oily skin too so my beauty consultant is always a good help with that. I've only used 2 of her products, twice a day and my skin is fine. I've even gotten rid of the blemishes (oily skin is usually prone to blemishes and acne). You can visit my consultant's site if you'd like (marykay.com/sjenkins524) If it worked for my horrible skin, I know it will definitely help you.

    You'll be fine.

    Good luck!

Try using a dove soap with a moisturizer and the matte(which is for oily skin) BareMinerals. And then a hydrating mineral vail for the airbrush look. But only on the dry places, because the matte really works.
