Menopause and our Uterus

I was wondering i'm a woman of 51 and I have not had my period for almost a year now with no complications except for some vaginal dryness and occasional sweats that my ob/gyn already told me is common when going through your changes. She asked me to have an ultrasound and it came back I have thickening of the uterus. Everything else right down to the pap test was normal but said she wanted to give me an D&C to due exploratory surgery to make sure there was no cancer in there. I panicked cause I keep reading to do a D&C there should be unusal bleeding and I feel this is an unwanted procedure. Can anyone please help me out and ease my mind here that thickening of the uterine lining is normal and its not really necessary to do a D&C unless I had a problem. Hope someone can answer me please.

I'm closing in on 52 and had a lot of trouble last year with bleeding. Got a D&C and ablation - best thing I've done in years. No real pain or anything. Took a few weeks to quit spotting and such and it's been smooth sailing ever since! No more bleeding, no periods and if possible I'm even hornier and juicier than I was before. I'm convinced that we've been brainwashed on the so called difficulties of menopause or perimenopause. So far all I've had is my S meter is bit sharper and I'm hornier.

hey but i don't bleed so why bother to do a D&C, right?

Because with the lining thickening you will. That's waht got me going - bleeding for weeks. The pathology showed that there were some abnormal cells so we may have averted another issue. You do what is most comfortable for you.
