i was in your shoes and sometimes fall back into my old rotuine. its hard to get the movin with a diet and exerise. what helps me alot is i keep a food book, everything i eat and drink i write down. i dont cound cals or fat bc if you look back to what you eat you know if it was a good choice or not. my first month was the hardest all i wanted was deep fried and cholate. doing better with that but you are still going to crave it and it is ok to have a day a week that you eat what ever you want. for me i exersie everyday for at least 30 mins. i use jillian michelas dvds and they work great!!! if you want cookies everyday go buy those 100 cal packs there good and not horraible for you. try chaning little by little. start with pop, dont drink any, instead of pop take water, try to exerise every other day at first til you get use to it. just take baby steps and reward yourself, not with food but with shoppin or such. plus dont foces on the scale do measurments once a week plus weight and keep a joural on it and see how far you can come. i hope this will help you. any questions just leave a post

    Hey,
I'm new on here too and I have the exact same problem as you. I am 32. I live in Canada (Saskatchewan) I have 3 boys (9,4&1) and I dont understand how I dont have energy. I have 3 boys to run after and yet I dont seem to have it in me to get off my butt. I can do really well for about a week or so and then I take a day off and it all goes to . I know ppl say you should have a day of rest when working out but as soon as I rest, I lose my momentum. I think the other thing that holds me back is that I hate the idea of "dieting". It seems so permanent. I know its a "lifestyle change" but...holy man!!! I hate counting calories or points. I dont want to do that forever. If you get any good advice please share!!! I need some help too.
    thanks

    Hey Carlyn,

Welcome to the site. Have you checked out the "fitness" section, & the "weight loss" section. I bet they have alot of ideas for you.

I"m in the same boat as you, like many others as well. Just trying to shed a few pounds, & lose my belly fat. It's coming along, but taking it's sweet time. oh well, it took me along time to get it out of shape, I guess it'll take a while getting my stomache into shape. Hahaha.

If you need a work out buddy, let me know.

a year ago i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes..my doctor sent me to a dietician..she told me to eat lots of veggies, start eating breakfast, cut out sugar and take a 1/2 hour walk each day..well the only veggie i like is corn..eating more was not an option, i hate them..i starting eating breakfast altho i am never hungery in the morning..now i have just 1/2 bagel or a small bowl of oatmeal..now i eat less lunch amd dinner..cutting out sugar was tough..i like pies,cake,donuts,chocolat,etc..i have now cut out a lot of my sweets and have more energy than before..but the clincher was the walking..i had no expectations to losing weight..i was 6'2" and 224 lbs..didn't feel i needed to lose weight..after 3 months i lost 6 lbs..after 8 months i have lost 14 lbs..and after 11 months i have now lost 19 lbs..i'm wearing blue jeans that i haven't fit into in 5 years..i don't always walk at the same time due to work or weather but i do it every day..you'll be amazed at the difference if you stick with it..good luck

its hard, I am the same way then I thought to myself if I ask my husband to excersise with me it will be so good, excersising with someone else always works for me but he flat out refuses and eats junk all day, even when he knows I need to be on a diet and watching him eat the junk food makes me want it so bad but I guess I need to get over it and start excersing by my self. good luck,

I would love to be a personal trainer when I get older.
When you do get up to do exercise what is it that you do ?
I set some of my friends up with simple crunches for example, they dont take long, they give you a nice stomach, & are easy to get used to.
Start with at least 50 day & night.
& maybe as time passes add more.
Also going for a simple walk a day would be nice.
Call up a friend or go out with you boyfriend.
Watch your diet also. Cravings are just in your head. I know they overwhelm a lot of us, but keep in mind, you can do it.

Hey Carlyn, I've been trying to lose the same 40lbs for the last five years. I know quite a bit about nutrition and knew what I needed to do, but life kept getting in the way of my efforts. I ate pretty well, but didn't have much control over my portions because I eat out a lot. I tried every single imaginable diet and NONE worked. Few months ago I found out a way and now I'm already half way to my goal and it's been very motivating. I didn't realize it would be so easy once I got started the new regime. It gave me control over portions and I didn't even have to change my habits all that much.
