Well, the title of the threat here basically says it ;P

I'm always on the lookout for books of the medieval fantasy or sci-fi genre. Anybody have suggestions?

I'm a huge Sci-fi fan! It depends on what you are looking for. For fun/easier reading, any of Robert A Heinlein's later stuff. In the Cyberpunk Category, I recommend anything by Neil Stevenson, I also highly recommend Contact by Carl Sagan or The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

I could probably recommend a ton of sci-fi, but I don't know what kind you like.

There are classic greats such as Heinlien, Clark, Asimov, LeGuin. Stewart's, Earth Abides, is a classic. Day of the Triffids, is another. One of my favs is Piers Anthony.

I am not a reader by any means however one book in school a couple years back that we were forced to write a paper on actually had me think "hey this is not that bad". It was called Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It is not extremely sci-fi but the book is about how society changes when a new reproductive technology is introduced. I am not even a reader and I would recommend it

Star Wars books are really good for sci-fi. Seriously, it isnt just the movies. There are over 120 books staring at about 2000 yrs before the movies, and so far up to 50 or so years after in the book timeline. Also The Troy Game series is really for medieval and sci-fi. The first book is based in ancient times, working up to WW2 times. Four books total. Man, I could on for days about books of any size, shape, form, or fashion, but I will stop there. Just check out some Sarah Douglass books. She is good for those genres.

We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.

I second that recommendation. It's a fast read, too!

Got to agree with Asimov 150%!! I could read anything by Asimov time and time and time again!

I've got a bunch of other authors too ... but now my brain is focused on Asimov and I can't think of anything else. *runs away to dig out the Three Laws of Robotics*

I find the old classics such the books of Edgar Allan Poe, not bad at all...Timeless and still giving the chill over a century later

THE sci-fi/fantasy book remains for me: Malpertuis of Jean Ray

'would make it to the Hall of Fame of sci-fi/fantasy books if there is ever one

Anything by Mercedes Lackey is awesome, especially her Valdimar series. I also love Jim Butcher. Kim Harrison is another good one if I remember right. Sherrilyn Kenyon is good if you like a little erotica in it too.

Tanith Lee is pretty prolific and not everything is riveting, but Silver Metal Lover is a great sci-fi novel. As far as fantasy goes, I am reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. It's pretty addictive. It is the first in a series of 7 planned books and is one of the inspirations for the Dragon Age game by Bioware. If you are looking for something off the beaten path and a little more egg-head, Stanislaw Lem is a good choice. He is known for writing Solaris, but I liked Hospital of the Transfiguration better.
