Nobody has any knowledge of this? Maybe its in the wrong section??
Hello everyone. I have been tying to stay under 1300 calories each day and working out 3-4 x/s a week trying to lose weight for a wedding and myself!
Well, I did some research yesterday that suggested eating less than 1000 calories a day, and the body will go into starvation mode, holding onto any calorie and carb intake.
I have eaten as low as 706 calories and up to 1315 a day. I am eating a nice breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, and dinner + snack.
If i consume less than 1000 calories am i going to plateau because my body thinks its starving? Even if im eating as often as i do.
Breakfast:
Smart ones breakfasts- between 220-340 calories (most imp meal of the day)
snack- nuts or south beach cereal bar, or fruit
lunch- tilapia, chicken, or salad w/ no cal dressing (very good by the way)
snack-^ above
Dinner- chicken, turkey, salad w/ no cal dressing
snack - ^
I'm consistently eating, just watching my calorie intake. I am also on a diet pill which should keep my metabolism going.
I need advice from someone who is familiar with the make up of the digestinal tract, and who is experienced AND KNOWLEDGABLE as to if im doing myself more harm than good. I'd like to lose 27 lb in 14 weeks.
I dont want my body thinking its in starvation mode, but I like the way im eating. I have more energy, and im proud that i can eat the right foods to keep the calories down.
What do you think?

You're fine.
As long as you don't feel like your blood sugar is low...i.e. (trembling/cold sweats/nausea)
Take your weight, multiply it by 11. That's how many cals you should be eating a day to MAINTAIN your weight. If you want to lose, you have to consume less than you burn.
Starvation mode will only be a problem if you go for long periods of time without eating. If you eat constantly during the day (small meals) you're body will not trigger the fat storing process.
Drink lots of water, as well. It'll fill you up and help to boost your metabolism.
Good luck!
Oh, thank you for responding! I am drinking 5 water bottles = 10 glasses water a day to assist me in this weight loss saga. And yes eating small meals consistently through the day. Your response put me at ease. I am excited to have lost 4 lb so far.
Thanks again. By the way, im also in another thread youve been following on apidexin. So i will post updates there.
Hello, it's good that you are taking your weight seriously. And best wishes on your upcoming wedding.
As far as eating is concerned. Actually you don't have to starve yourself to reduce weight. YOu need only to balance you caloric and non-caloric intake.
Eating more nutrient rich food compared to caloric food will give you stomach the needed right amount of nutrients to digest.
Our digestive system does not count calories to say it is full.. it counts on the amount of nutrients it is recieving to signal the brain that it is already full. So, eat a lot of nutrient rich food and less and less caloric food. Not only you satisfy your hunger, you also at the same time lose weight dramatically. Nutrient rich food by the way, does not store fat or plaque in your system.

Eating less doesn't help in losing some weight because it will lead you to starvation. I can't take it. I did that in weeks just to she doff some extra weight that I have. What I did was, I replaced eat with a healthy diet. It's far more better than that.
If your body goes into starvation mode, you'll know it. Keep working out, keep your metabolism up, snack on fruit, and just generally be aware of your body.
It doesn't sound like you have much to worry about, but I hope your 700 calorie days are not on workout days.
