Default Migraines - anyone else suffer?

I was diagnosed with them when I was 8, I'm 31 now. I've been on two different meds in the past, stopped both because I didn't like the way they made me feel. The last one was Imitrex.

Anyways, I had been taking 2 Tylenol's and 4 Advil's when I'd get them, ice pack and go to sleep. I'd wake up fine. In Feb., I had my tubes tied and the Dr gave me a prescription for 800 Motrin. So I started using those for my migraines and they work wonderfully, for some reason 4 OTC Motrin/Advil don't seem to work as well or as quickly (could be in my head though). I have about 30 left, I doubt my OB would give me another prescription for them when they are gone, so... If any of you suffer from them, what do you do?

Any help is very much appreciated.

My migraines are usually very quick to come on and quick to go. I don't like taking medicine, so I just endure it. I close my eyes and sit in a dimly lit room and that's it, really.

I'm sorry I can't be of any help.

My migranes last a whole week. They sort of do a climax type of thing. What I do to help curb them is take cod liver oil. If I dont take that, I will be out of comission for a whole week. When my headache gets to the peak of pain, I usually end up in the hospital.

Cod liver oil, really? Haven't heard of that. But it helps? Question... is it fishy, can you taste it? I don't do seafood, or anything out of the water actually. But if it helps, I'd be willing to give it a shot!

Cycle of my migraine is pretty much, pain in which I take my 800 mg Motrin, dark room, ice pack, vomit and go to sleep. UGH

I actually just read an article yesterday that said.. "Using OTC pain relievers (and certain prescription ones, too) can often lead to rebound headaches: Your body gets so used to the drugs that missing a dose brings on a new headache."

So now I'm thing, , have I taken too many of my 800 mg Motrins that now I'm more or less dependent on them... Which kind of lead me to start this thread.

I or anyone can't answer, that only your Doctor however, getting used to a drug will ensure it doesn't work in my opinion, as they become weaker, as you become used to them.. So that's a good thing... But, you need to check with your DR, don't you hate that?

    Cold press?

    Lavender heat bags?

    Deep breathing?

    Water - lots every day...

There are in my opinion a few ways you can trick your mind on this too.

I don't get headaches but had what the doc said was a migraine in my chest a couple years ago. Apparently you can them anywhere but we usually only think of the headache as a migraine. They seem to have a allergy like componet in that there is a response trigger. I know of a women who has such debilitating migraines that is was essentially like a stroke, she had worked for years exposed to high levels of noise and fuel exhausts. Hopefully all the study of immune system malfunction will yeild some answers with this.
