Yellowpixi3: I'm glad it's working for you but be careful because I thought it was the 'miracle cure' for my problems & was the best bc but it took almost 3yrs to mess up. I wish you better luck!

collegegirl2009: Thanks. I just hope that if I do find out some serious side effects it won't take that long. And hopefully the companies come up with something more innovative soon.

I began taking Yaz about a year ago, and about one month after I started taking it, I noticed that my skin cleared up and I didn't have as many cramps. However, during the next month, my ovaries began to cramp almost daily. It was like my period was all month. Then when I stopped taking the horomone pills and was taking the 4 day 'sugar pill' My emotions were overwhelming, something that I had never experienced before. I was crying one minute and the next I was so angry and I would stay angry until the next pill cycle started. I was so miserable, needless to say my boyfriend knew when to stay away. I know that the Yaz started all of this because before then, I almost never became angry. I was doing some research on PMDD and I actually have a lot of those symptoms, but when I was researching what could cause PMDD it said that it could actually be the Yaz and the horomones that were in it. I stopped taking it and all seems well for now. I don't advise anyone to try Yaz.

I Started taking YAZ in June 2008 I noticed my cycles were shorter and lighter which was nice, and my complection was clearing up. Before I started taking YAZ I was not on any birth control and was always wet down stairs. After being on YAZ for about 8 months I decided to get off of it.
I had horrible mood swings
I was depressed and Crabby all the time
I had Vaginal dryness
I gained 6lbs
These problems started effecting my every day life. I've been off YAZ for about 2 weeks now and I'm starting to feel like my Normal cheerful self again, however I am still having problems getting wet when my boyfriend and i have sex.

Never been on yaz, but try using a water based lubricant, shouldn't cause any irritation. If you're particularly sensitive you may just need to keep away from scented and flavored lubricants, wither way, water based should be fine.

Just wanted to add my story to this thread, since it seems to be more popular.
I was on Yaz for 5 months, and at first it seemed great. Then the symptoms started creeping up on me so slowly, I didn't notice it until I picked up a stomach bug and I kept telling the doctor I felt so nervous and anxious all of the time. I had the first panic attack of my life, on the day I came down with the stomach bug.
Anyway, I've had awful side effects from this pill. Loss of appetite, severe anxiety, unexplainable fear, rapid heart rate (110-120, just sitting!) ear problems, and more. I've been off of it for just a little over a month and I am just now getting back to work. Still have no appetite, but I am able to eat.
Be careful with this pill if you take it. Might be great for some women, but for others, is a nightmare.

yaz made me sick
i started taking yaz in november of 2007 and started getting severe stomach aches along with chronic diarrhea. i took it for a total of 3 months and finally decided that the yaz was making me sick. i 've been off of it for a year and i still have some stomach problems. I assume it is still related to the yaz. i have never had problems like this until i took the yaz.

So much to say!
Wow. I started taking Yaz last summer. It was the first birth control I'd ever taken so it worked amazing at first. No problems nothing at all. But after a few months I started to feel dizzy, lmost passing out on numerous occasions. I couldn't figure out why this happened when I hadn't changed any of my eating habits. I went back to school in the fall and changes occurred like crazy. I was moody all the time-i'd be happy and boom! instantly i'd turn into a . I'd cry everyday about nothing at all. Then the anxiety started. I had stress in my life...but nothing out of the ordinary yet I'd have rapid heart beats and feel panicky ALL the time. Feeling like I was going to die & my heart would beat out of my chest. I was worried but no problems came back from the drs tests. I didn't notice it at first but Id go a whole day with out eating anything but a sandwich...and im normally a big eater. My roomates noticed my rapid weight loss but they didn't push the issue, but when I went home for the holidays everyone asked if i'd developed an eating problem. I deff. did not but I still never put two and two together that my bc could be the problem. I kept on taking yas despite the problems...and it wasn't until this summer that I started getting really bad cramps in my legs...to the point that my heart beat would be visible on random spots throughtout my legs. Plus my period simply disappeared. I'd have the symptoms of a period (ie. bloating cramping etc etc) but no period. I asked my gyno and she switched me to ortho tricyclen lo...but never once mentioned the possibility of my symptoms being tied into YAZ.
NOW I keep seeing all of these tv ads about YAZ and I am SO happy I switched off of YAZ. Who knows what might have happened if I continued to use it.
