I wanted to try for kids next year, but I have been getting slight pains in my ovaries for the past 4 months and irregular periods, since Easter I have had a couple of periods that ran 2 weeks late. I am using protection so not pregnant as done tests.
when my period does come it is quite painful and heavy on the first couple of days and then by 4/5 day hardly any bleeding.
I saw a doctor last week and she wants me to have further tests for PCOS,cysts, PID etc. ultrasound also.
If I were to stop using contraception now, would I be unwise to try for pregnancy before having these tests. I am anxious to wait any longer as the doctor says Im already past 35 and should be getting on with it!

The results on the test generally don't take long. I'd get in and get them done. You should have the results in less than a week, then can proceed as you want. Did you ask you Dr about going ahead and trying to get pregnant? Call and ask to speak to the nurse or Dr and ask them.

But what kind of contraception are you using? If you are on any type of hormonal birth control, there is no harm in getting off it and getting it out of you system.

I had my first at 33 and my second at 36, no problems. If you eat a healthy diet, exersize, take folic acid regularly - the pregancy part should be fine. But why not make sure you have a clean bill of health first?
