Ruptured Ovarian Cyst

Last Saturday night I had a ruptured cyst. The pain was so bad I wanted to call an ambulance (husband wouldn't wake up) but didn't because I was in too much pain to get dressed and find my phone. I went to the gyn Monday and was told I most likely had a ruptured cyst, that it was no big deal and it would resolve itself. I decided to do some online searching and was disturbed by what I found on the subject of ruptured ovarian cysts... from what I read it can be very dangerous, causing infection, infertility and other major problems. My gyn had an ultrasound ordered, but that was it... he didn't test to see if it was possibly malignant or anything else. No antibiotics were given either.

Does anyone know if this non-treatment is standard with ovarian cysts? Should I be concerned? If anyone here has had this happen to them, I'd like to hear your experience... what your doctor did and the final outcome.

hi, I had ovarian cyst for almost 6 years and lately I had vaginal bleeding (very little) and my gyn ordered an ultrasound. I was hoping that I would be given some medications to stop the bleeding and I am still waiting to be treated. I hope that non-treatment will not result to a more serious problem because I'm really worried and being alone since my husband passed away makes me very scared and frightened. I put my trust in God's loving care and protection. I hope we can resolve our health problems soon.
