Default IUD Failure and dr mistakes

    Hello,

I just don't know where else to turn.

I had Mirena IUD inserted a bit over 2 years ago.

I found myself 8 wks pregnant in the middle of july. Still have the IUD in place.

I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago. Was at the hospital for a D&C, doctor noticed I had an IUD, told me he removed it as it came out with the products of conception.

I have been bleeding for 6 weeks continually. Very tired, very sore when I urinate. Bleeding very heavy most days, barely nothing the next.

Thursday evening (well actually early Friday morning) I was at work. Just sitting here, minding my own business. All of a sudden I felt like my uterus left go.

I jumped up and ran to the washroom, before I even got there, there was a blood running down my right leg.

I got to the washroom, crawled in the handicapped stall only to find myself bleeding PROFUSELY from my vagina.

No pain, just blood, lots and lots of blood.

One girl ran in after me, I told her to call 911 as it was just gushing out of me, with no end in sight, still no pain.

I ended up finding a phone in my pocket so I called 911, spoke to dispatch and kept them up to speed with my condition.

I bled quite badly for nearly 15 minutes straight. Was beginning to get weak so I grabbed on to the railing in that stall. Every time I'd sit down, I'd only bleed heavier, so I needed to stand until paramedics got there.

After what felt like forever, paramedics finally arrive, they package me up and off to the er I go.

I am better, yes. The "official" explanation from the doctor that saw me at emerg was that I had my period...?? I'm sorry, but WTF?

I thought the DR who treated me for my miscarriage removed my IUD, he told me he removed it, the nurses told me it had been removed and they sent me on my way, with my first depo provera shot in the butt, have a nice life.

I got to the emerg on Thursday (well Friday morning EARLY actually) only to find out the IUD was still there? Had it removed, AGAIN.

I have a few follow up appointments coming this week. I'm hoping for some better answers.

Turns out I lost (according to the paramedics) over 500cc's of blood in the bathroom and another 300-400 on route and while at the hospital. I had IV's in both arms, received 3 bags of fluids. Thankfully no blood transfusions.

I was asked to return to check my HCG levels. Apparently, my body still thinks I'm pregnant?? And they have the balls to ask if I've had sex since my miscarriage? How can I? I haven't stopped bleeding yet?!

My hcg evels are still high, according to the bloodwork that was taken today.

Was wondering if anyone might be able to relate to this situation, provide some alternate ways of looking at things. I feel i was mistreated and am concerned for my future.

The doctors i have seen thus far have done all they can to just brush me off. i have no answers, only more questions.

Firstly how are you? You must be frightened, worried and angry all at once...

Your Doctors in my opinion were neglectful and lied.

Based on what you have said.

You need to engage a lawyer and tell them what you told us.

In my opinion you are following your gut feeling... they are covering.... they stuffed up.

I am so sorry for all that you have been through...

I know of a friend that had an abortion, and she recalls the Doctors laughing before she was out, "stupid beach, it's her fault anyway" and they left half inside of her...

    She never persued.

I am asking you to be Erin Bre..wick "can't remember the middle" you need to ensure you can have another baby.

You need to ensure your not infected by their neglect.

You need advise in how to do all of this.

We can only support you and be here for you to talk about it.

Well, it's been 11 weeks of continous bleeding. I've been seen by an OBGYN and have been informed that my cervix is closed and (AT THE TIME) there was no signs of fresh bleeding from my uterus. THIS visit occured last Wednesday. Thursday was the ultrasound. Still haven't heard back from that yet.

I've since passed several large pieces of tissue, most recently this afternoon. There was a very strong, bad odor attached to this most recent event today and I've noticed the same problem with the blood I'm still shedding.

I'm going to call my GP on Tuesday when the office re-opens, but I am at a loss of how to persue this matter anymore. The labs always come back fine. My CBC's are always good, no signs of infection, blah blah blah.

I was hoping I might receive some good advice here. I'm just worried there's more going on than what the doctors are willing to look for.

I wish I had something to offer but I don't. Keep us up to date on your condition and what the doctors tell you.

The same with me dear. We're here for support if you need it but CW is right, it sounds like you need an attorney. They doctors were negligent and/or incompetent in your case and you're still suffering because of it. I'm very sorry to hear what you're going through and sending well-wishes your way.
Please let us know how it's going.
