I wish I could help Jenny. My brother and sis in law have an 8 month old boy and while he kicks, he thinks it funny and laughs about it.
Maybe try a pacifier? Sorry...

This sounds like a child who is terribly uncomfortable with her clothing. Some little ones have reaaly sensitive skin. Could there be any lables bothering her or scratchy seams? What kind of fabircs are they? How about your laundry product? Are you using anything perfumey or drier sheets on her clothes?
I have sensitities and there are things that just make me want to crawl out of my skin. How much harder when you can't say what is bothering you?!

WC makes a good point. I hadn't thought about it, but when my oldest was young, I had to cut the tags out of his clothes. I did this until he was about 4. He would go NUTS!
Thank goodness for tagless shirts now!

Have you tried letting her stand up or helping her stand up when you dress her? It takes a little more effort but could work. My eleven month old has hated being layed down while getting his clothes or diaper changed for a few months now. I have no choice when it comes to the diaper but I let him sit or stand up while changing his clothes. Good Luck!
Check her clothes for things like seams stitched with that plastic thread. Look at places such as where the shoulder seam meets the sleeve. I had to slip stitch bias tape over the inside seams of some of my kids clothes. And even some of the printed on lables can be scratchy.
