I'm eightteen and I have never been to the Gyno. I am scared to death!! Under regular circumstances, I wouldn't go because I am a virgin and I feel there is no need. But, recently, my doctor put together all my symptoms (abnormal hair growth, rapid weight gain, etc.) and believes I have PCOS. She sent me for an ultrasound and they did find a medium sized cyst in my ovary. Now, they are pushing for me to go to the Gyno. But I am refusing. I am extremely embarressed!!

There's absolutely NOTHING to be embarrassed about. They've seen it all! Nothing you have will put any gyno into shock.

You have a medical condition that needs to be assessed. Do it for your health.

    Thumbs up Hello

You have to think about how many patients they see in a day and it really is no big deal. I started seeing a gynocologist since I was in my 20's for fibroids, cysts and endometriosis. I finally just had a total hysterectomy last year. I now see my regular MD for my checkups. Choose a female doctor if that will make you feel better. Have a friend go with you or your mom. I have been so many times it doesn't even bother me. They have seen everything under the sun!

Having a pelvic exam is not something us ladies look forward to but it's going to be a necessary part of your life as you'll need regular paps etc so it's one of those things we just have to get used to. Believe me they've seen it all before countless times and to them it's just a bodypart like a back or knee is a bodypart to a physio. They're so used to looking at our lady bits because that's the area they chose to specialise in and there's always a nice nurse on hand to make the situation less awkward. Be brave and go and have your checks and once you've done it a few times you'll feel the same way the rest of us do, it's just a necessary evil and you get used to it.

Aw hun, I never had one before last year either. It honestly takes 5 minutes at the most. Let your gyno know you're nervous, it seems silly but it'll really help. Get a woman gyno if it makes you more comfortable, because they have the same exact parts as you It doesn't hurt at all, infact the only thing that feels the smallest bit weird is the pap smear. and it doesn't hurt just feels weird. you may cramp afterwards, as if you were on your period.

Every woman has to do this, and it's scary and embarrassing but just do it. once you do, you'll realize it really isn't much of anything. Yearly check ups are a must, if there is something wrong they can find it before it goes too far. so mmhm don't worry it's easy peasy
