    Default Removing an acrylic overlay...

I'm a reformed nail biter... So a while ago, I had acrylic tips put on until my nails were a normal length. So ever since, I've always just gone in for a backfill and french mani. I love the french, but I'm tired of the acrylic overlay. I'm going to go in for a mani tonight, but can I take the acrylic off myself? If so, how?

Also, what can I use to strengthen up these puppies, they are so weak. And yes, I know the acrylic was of no help in that whatsoever. I'll probably get a gel overlay until they are a bit stronger.

Acetone. Not the nail polish with it in, just acetone. They'll come off slowly, shouldn't hurt your real nails like just ripping them off would. Are the glued-on tips still on? They will be harder to get off, I don't know if acetone will loosen them.

I guess Home Depot is calling my name today...

No - the tips are long since gone, so it is just the acrylic top now.

    Thanks ma'am!

Yup, head to the paint section! Even if HD is yuck
It will take a while, so get a cup of tea and be patient.

No kidding huh! There is a Lowe's just a tad bit further in the other direction, which I like better. I just for some reason instinctively go to the depot, probably because hubby always goes there.

Haha, it's because Lowe's was designed for women and the "finishing touches," ie, really easy do-it-yourself projects, while HD was designed for men and the raw basics for projects. So it's no wonder you like it better.

Really? I didn't know that. HAHA That's funny, because that's exactly how it is though.

I've been known to soak them in regular nail polish remover. Eventually they will desecrate off. DON"T TRY to PULL or TWIST them off! It will do more worse then good.
