I am a 58 year old who suffered the past 8 years with urinary incontinence. The last straw was walking up a hill with co-workers (males) and urinating down both legs. I realized it had gone way past the point of sneezing, laughing and coughing. My gynecologist recommended a doctor who has been very successful in correcting the problem. Two weeks ago I had a monarch sling put over the uretha because it was tipped. The surgery lasted approximately 30 minutes - I left the hospital an hour after the surgery. The first few hours it hurt when urinating but after than I encountered no other problems except my legs being sore from my legs being in the stirrups for 35 minutes. The doctor told me that 1 in 2 women suffer this problem and most do not get it corrected. I would highly recommend this surgery. It's amazing I can sneeze, cough, laugh and walk up hills without having a problem.
I resolved a problem that wasn't quite so severe, with sudden urge and barely making it to the bathroom, by losing weight, working out and using a kegel master.
The biggest culprit in this is birthing laying down.
