Default Is it possible to tear something when pulling out a dry tampon?

Im an adult and have had my period for years. I have never experienced or even heard of anything like this before.

Last night I had a difficult time pulling out my tampon. This happens from time to time, due to light flow and the tampon not absorbing enough blood. The tampon seemed to be stuck, and it took a few minutes of yanking to get it out. Which was very painful.

This morning, I noticed that there is like a thick, solid piece of flesh or muscle [not sure], sticking out attached to the bottom of my vaginal opening.

Is it possible that when I pulled the dry tampon out, I tore something? Or pulled something out that wasnt suppose to come out?

How worried should I be? I'm obviously worried, but is this serious? I dont have health insurance, so I would prefer to avoid the doctor. Can anyone offer a response or advice without referring me to see a doctor?

    Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure if it is possible to tear something by pulling out a tampon, but I know exactly what you are talking about. It seems my last couple of periods, it has hurt trying to pull out some of the tampons at times, I seem to be very dry down there the last couple of times.

I've actually taken a day or two break from tampons the last couple of times because of this.

What you are describing sounds like it could be something, but who knows. I would stop wearing tampons for a few, if anything.

Is it possible to go to a health clinic, where they base the charge on your income for those who don't have insurance?

    Amen

Whoever said anything was possible obviously never tried slamming a revolving door.

I also know the pain you're talking about. I don't believe you can harm yourself this way. It is much more likely that you may leave bits and pieces of the tampon clinging to the inside of your vagina. This is not particularly dangerous, though using a douche at the end of your cycle can help clean out any tampon reminents that may be left. The thick piece of material that was expelled from your vagina was most likely a blood clot working it's way out of your system. That is completely normal and is not anything to be concerned with. If it happens more frequently, or if you develop any pain, I would recommend consulting with your doctor.
