My friend is having extreme pain in her menstruation ever since she can remember. She sometimes faints and screams. I'm worried about her. She says her cramps are unbearable. She is very thin and she is used to smoking. Right now she has stopped smoking, but she drinks several cups of coffee daily. Sometimes she tends to smoke marijuana to cope up with the pain.

When she was at school, she had accidentally got kicked on the lower abdomen area.

What could be the reasons for this.

I definitely recommend that she see a doctor. Pain like that is NOT normal, and something may be seriously wrong. It's hard to say what it could be as there are a variety of potential issues that can cause such pain. Uterine fibroids and/or ovarian fibroids seem to be the most common and are, under most circumstances, easily treatable, but not without consulting with a physician.

Yeah, I'd say she needs to see a doctor ASAP. She could have something serious going on. I get very painful cramps, too, but not to where I scream and faint. So there is definitely something wrong with her period.

Thank you very much for your response. I'm so worried about her. It is a great relief that such things could be easily treatable. She is very reluctant to see a doctor, and thinks that the situation is normal. I was wondering is she would be having an inflammation.

So you mean, the most common reason for such a pain would probably be a fibroid? And it could be treated..? Good!

She has been suffering like this since her puberty, for 9 years now, and she says the pain is same (not getting worse neither getting better), except few cases where she lost conciousness of the pain.

Extreme pain and losing consciousness is not common. She REALLY needs to see a physician even if she's wary of going. It could be just a simple cause but it could be something much worse. The last thing she needs to do is wait. If there is something going on in there it could even cause her to lose the ability to have children in the future.
