My legs will just start to twitch for no reason. It is the actual nerves firing at high rates without the feedback loop telling them to stop. It is annoying but not harmful.
For the past week or two I've been noticing these odd, quivering sensations when I'm sitting down. It feels like my legs are shaking even though they aren't visibly shaking. This may have been going on for longer, and I don't feel the quivering when I stand up. I am feeling it right now sitting at the computer. When I lie down for bed, I feel it, as if my legs are exhausted. I am a college student, so I do a lot of sitting both inside and out of classes, and I have to walk uphill to get back home from my lessons.
I have a cold right now, but this has been going on for some time before I developed the cold. I am wondering if there is anything to worry about? Does anyone else get these quivery/shaky feelings in their legs when they are sitting?
Trying to get a hold of myself is really tough! But I'll keep trying.

Yeppers. It is quite easy to make things seem a lot worse than they really are.I wonder if it's just the stress I've been putting on myself worrying about what's wrong with me....

Stess in general can do countless amounts of things to our bodies. Worrying about school is tough enough, just try to take it easy. So, stress can make your nerves tweak out? This is bad, since I've been worrying about my health since June, with no real reason. I think that my body's forgotten what it's like to not be stressed out and tense.

Thanks so much for the information. I just wish I could get my legs to stop quivering....It's obnoxious. Like me I guess, haha! I remember I used to get what I called "shakes" where I would feel the quivering and stuff when my sugar levels were low. But I don't know if it's just because I don't eat enough, or what.

Jelly legs![]()
I went through a stage of this and i wish that i'd have kept a diary - what id eaten, what exercise id done, if any stressful circumstances had taken place- maybe you could do that and see if there is a pattern that emerges.
I must admit that i found taking a gentle stroll when the symptoms occurred helped. Which would mean that at 2am i was walking around my garden because my jelly legs were worse at night and id loose sleep over it. Also a long soak in the bath before bed helped.
It does make you wonder if it has anything to do with circulation - let me know if your leg twitching eases after walks, baths, leg massages.

I don't have it right now (11:27 AM), but I seem to get it more often later in the day and evening hours (around 5ish is when I noticed it yesterday). I don't feel anything strange when walking. When I lie down, it's terrible. It feels like my legs are so tired and shaky, that it's hard to get to sleep.
I know the body naturally shakes sometimes, like my hands for example, but the leg thing is just ridiculous! Could it be that I'm not getting enough water?
