pap test

I am 23 lost my virginity at 16 and have only had one pap test done 3 years ago. how often are you meant to get pap smear test done when your young? or is it the same for all ages?? My friend said two yearly. they are so uncomfortable.

I've gone yearly for the last 14 years, since I was 17/18.
