Give the office a call and talk to your doc or the nurse practitioner. This happens, it's not at all unusual but talking to a professional will help reassure you.
I have always had irregular periods (sometimes every month, sometimes every 6 weeks...) but about 6 months ago I started to have them about every 2 months and they lasted about 2 weeks (with less blood and brown not red) instead of 4 or 5 days.
I went to the doctor and had a smear (normal) and an ultrasound (normal except I have a small cyst on an ovary which apparently should disappear on its own, I have another appointment mid November to check progress). There appeared to be nothing wrong so my doctor put me on the pill for 3 months to get things back in order.
I have just finished the first packet and have my period. It is quite heavy and I have had several big blood clot type things (about the size of a slug). I think since for a long time, I didn't really have much blood coming out, that this may be what had been hanging around in there all that time, so it is a good thing to get rid of it! But at the same time, I'm wondering if I should be worried? I read that if you have very heavy periods (and so far I have only had this one) it could be cancer, but since my smear was normal then obviously I don't have that.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here or has this happened to someone else?
