Irregular Bleeding
You could simply be having an irregular period which is normal for just about all women at some point in life. Especially if you are in your teens. Your hormones will fluctuate and cause your period to be abnormal occassionally. It's almost always normal. If it continues for several months then you should see a gynecologist.
It can also be from stress. That can cause your period to be spotty, extra long, or not show up at all.
The brown discharge is actually blood and can be a sign that you did start your period although it was hardly visible.
There are some conditions which can cause women and teen girls to have irregular periods. Again, the only way to know for sure is to see a gynecologist.
