The doctor should be skillful enough to ensure she doesn't hurt you. Just keep breathing and try to relax, that will make it all easier. You'll do fine.
Ok so I thought I had a yeast infection a few months ago, there was white stuff down there, and it itched. I tried the one day cream stuff, but it burned like crazy and didn’t help so my mom made me my first gyno appointment. The nurse practitioner just swabbed me and prescribed me a one day pill to take. I took the pill, it went away for about a week. Then it came back about a month ago, sort of. It doesn’t itch, and occasionally there’s a tiny bit of white stuff, but now it just feels almost as if I have dry skin inside me or something and when I wipe myself after going to the bathroom it hurts. I don’t know if it’s a yeast infection again or something else? I told the gyno I hadn’t had sex, so I didn’t need a full exam. But now I’m wondering if I should’ve told the doctor I did, cause I kinda had sex with my ex-boyfriend and don’t know if it counts or not (by ‘kinda’ I mean that we tried- he went inside me but not enough to break the hymen. And he didn’t ejaculate inside me or anything). I'm not an expert on STIs but I'm pretty sure its very unlikely that I'd have one. Anyway, my mom is going to make me a normal gyno appointment but I’m afraid it’s going to hurt—I’m 17, my hymen is fully intact and I don’t even use tampons! So my two questions are does anyone know what I might have? And do you think that getting a full internal exam or whatever is going to hurt me?
Thanks.![]()

Take it easy and trust your doctor. She/he would be careful not to hurt you. Understand that once you become sexually active, you need to be checked by a specialist.

Before you go to the doctor, it is good to have your questions ready. And, it is also great if you identify and describe your symptoms thoroughly.
Here are some things for you to think about. I got these from an STD/STI Info board:
If your curious of what Std symptoms to look out for because you think you may have contracted an Std We've created a quick check list you can check out before going to your local doctor or clinic. So here's a common couple of signs of a Std
- Is your urine dark and or smell bad?
- Is your genital area secreting puss or discharge?
- Do you experience a Burning sensation when urinating.?
- Do you have a strange rash or itching sensation?
- Do you have any legions, bumps, or warts in the genital or anus area?
- Have you noticed an unusual odor?
- Have you noticed a strange blister or open sore?
- Do you have pain during intercourse that wasn't there previously?
- Do you have abdominal pain?
- Have you noticed any unusual or unexplained swelling?
- Have you seen small eggs or nits in your pubic hair or armpits?
If you are experiencing any of these Std symptoms you should see a medical professional immediately. Some Std's and Sti's can be cleared up quickly if treated early so time is a factor. Others may be quite dangerous and must be treated immediately before it becomes worse.
I hope yours is not what you are fearing. I doubt it. So, relax!

Thanks guys. Of the questions you posted there, all I have is some irritation and a little bit of white discharge on occasion, but none of the major things that were listed. So I don't think it's an STD...maybe the yeast infection just didn't fully go away and thats all it is?
