I had my wisdom teeth pulled two weeks ago and have already made a complete recovery. It took a week to be able to open my mouth all the way. I've never heard of complete numbness.
numbness never occurs on removal of wisdom tooth.they teke it out on giving some anaesthesia which works upto 2 hours even after removal.so you don't feel pain.then slowly the numbness goes off.nothing to worry.it is a very simple procedure.
Ouch! My wisdom teeth are coming in also it kills me all of them are going to have to be pulled, I have been having this problem for a few months now, its just well... we don't really have the money for it since my father is out of a job, so i guess i just have to live with it for now.
Anonymous46, I have the same problem. My wisdom teeth are not in all the way but they move every few weeks and then I get irritated because of the annoying pain they cause. So I don't know what to do except I let them be and wait to see if I need anything else pulled or cut out. That way I can have it all done at once.
Take it from someone who's been suffering from wisdom teeth problems for three years now:
GET THEM OUT.
I never had dental insurance when they were coming in, and my crazy mother wouldn't LET me go to the dentist.
The thing is, these teeth are evolutionarily only there to "replace" worn-out, fallen-out teeth ... and most don't have that problem. So nasty things happen like they get embedded in your gums, they don't line up top to bottom and hit each other badly, they crowd your teeth together, they make it hard to brush away bacteria and you get infections ... throat infections spread and can go up to your EARS.
Believe me, Strep/Tonsillitis/Double Ear infection=a LOT OF PAIN.
And do you remember when you were young and your dentist put something on your back molars to keep them from cavities? Your wisdom teeth don't have this ... so the cavities come easier.
Just get them out. I don't know anything about permanent numbness, but I'd take it over the pain I've been in.
I have to get my wisdom teeth out soon! I went to the dentist today. You can also get them taken out at the dentist ... they just numb your gums with a needle and then pull them out, it is a little less traumatic.
I had to get my wisdom teeth taken out a few summers ago. All for of mine had to be cut out. It wasn't that bad. They give you a pill to take before you leave the house so your not nervus. Then I got the gas there and novicain of course. They also had head phones there and music to pick from, so that was good. So all that wasn't bad at all. Through it I even rememberd to ask for my teeth to keep. There cool looking. Haveing them cut out isn't too bad. One thing that is annoying though for the recovery is they stitch your check over the whole to protect it, so it's even harder to open your mouth. Also the disolvable stitches are annoying. But it's worth it. The recovory is the worst part, and that's mainly the little anoyences like I mentioned. Deffinatly outways the negative things of keeping them in. For me they hurt really bad and were moving all my teeth, but an infection would suck. Good luck everyone.
I had my wisdom teeth removed about thirty minutes ago...and let me just say I'm seriously jealous of you all who had a decent experience.
For me, it hurt like **** while they did it because my body doesn't respond 100% to anesthesia and I swear up and down that the laughing gas didn't do squat and now my mouth won't stop bleeding. It sucks!
