    Thumbs up Probiotics fine

    Hi,
I have had ulcerative colitis and my sister has it too plus chron's for over 10 years. If by supplements you mean diet pills, I wouldn't. Probiotics are great, and fine, but nothing stimulating which all diet pills are to an extent. Other supplements, like fish oil and even vitamins can bother you, but are not harmful. Check to see if they have a "bleeding" warning on them like ibuprophen does, those are a no-no. Your best bet unfortunately is the old, diet and exercise. I was just last night wishing I could take a pill. They never work.
    good luck, Karen

i have crohn's and i am having trouble loosing weight. when i go on diets or try to eat right, thats when i get the stomach pain. diets tell you to eat lots of veggies and whole grains, but these are the foods that make me have extreme stomach pain. yet i can eat white pasta, bread, and bagels and my stomach feels good. i've tried diets in the past, weight watchers for example, and i always end up getting sick. and the meetings would be frustrating when the leader would tell me to do things that obviously, i can't do living with my disease. this previous year (my last year in college) i just focused on school and applying to grad school and didnt worry about my weight or working out. i gained a lot of weight but ironically enough this was the ONE YEAR i didn't go horrible out of remission, and for the most part my crohn's was in control. i feel hopeless at times, cause it seems i can either be fat (and therefore obviously unhealthy) but yet my crohn's is in check, or try dieting and be in pain. if anyone has any advice please let me know. right now im trying to search for a nutrionist who specialized in people with this type of condition. thank you.
