So I've been reading these posts and found helpful information. Recently, I feel that I've been experiencing bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. I know it's not good to self diagnose but after reading some information I feel like it's one of them. I reluctant to go to the doctor's because of antibiotics. According to what I've been reading, antibiotics only solves the problem temporary and may even make it worse. I've been taking acidophilus pills orally, but after reading Ginger's post I learned it only helps in the intestines and that I should look for probiotics with L. Rhamnous and L. Reuteri for vaginal flora. I will try looking for the primodophilus or similar to help with this continuing problem. Clearly, there are some doctors that are just money hungry. They won't tell you about these natural remedies because they want to make money.

    Red face

I just got back from my gyno, they confirmed I have BV right away but still took a culture. They gave me a five day Tindamax treatment and said that this is a really good antibiotic so I'm actually quite relieved at the moment that this could work out. And once the Im done with that I'm going on birth control which my doc thinks will help a lot! I also picked up Rephresh pro-b tabs and a probiotic suppository.

Sarah, are you on the pill? I'm considering the 91 day cycle kind, do you think that could be a good idea for you?

What are your symptoms, Cilana86? It took me years to realise the difference between my yeast infections and BV, but I'm now pretty clear which is which with me. A yeast infection makes you feel extremely irritated and sore (sometimes itchy) down there, and the discharge is quite thick and creamy looking. BV makes me irritated down there, but much less so, and the discharge is very smelly, and not thick the same.

I don't think it's just that doctors want to make money. I think that they just don't believe in the value of alternatives/complementary medicine.

Best of luck to you that it goes and doesn't come back! It's always good to get a diagnosis, so at least you know what you're dealing with.

Unfortunately I can't take the pill, as all of them give me horrible migraines etc. So I think I'm stuck with the dreaded periods!

Difficult to say for sure, but it sounds like BV, by the fact that it is after your period, and smells fishy. Read through the epic thread for advice on what has helped people, but somewhere to start would be to try to address the PH balance after your period. Products like RePHresh are good for that and help a lot of women, but they can cause thrush if you're prone to it (and being a diabetic, I assume you might be).

Hello ladies. Fellow sufferer here. Tried a bunch of stuff that didn't work like everyone else. So either there is some missing common denominator like Ms. Hearts previously stated, or maybe we are being misdiagnosed. Our chronic BV might be caused by some other health problem not being addressed, which could explain why it comes back. I'm just speculating but I did notice some similiarities between my info and Ms Heart's info.

27 years old. I have never been pregnant, nor am I sexually active at this time. I do wear jeans a lot. I drink socially and my diet is horrible. It consists of mostly carbs. I like bread and desserts, I eat meat, but rarely vegetables. My water intake isn't what it should be at all. I don't smoke at all, I rarely take medications. I do suffer from migraine headaches and allergies. I recently stopped taking birth control, although this problem started long before I started birth control. I do notice my bv symptoms "recharge" after my period is over and the odor and discharge increases over a week or so.

My sexual activity started at age 15 and I've been suffering from this affliction since age 18. I'm healthy but not very physically active. (I don't really exercise much). I don't use soap on my vagina, no douching, I wipe properly. The last sexual encounter I had was protected. It was immediately after I tried one of the home remedies (50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water followed by a yogurt soaked tampon twice a day along with folic acid b complex and acidophilus). This seemed to have worked for a few days but to no avail. I can't say whether it came back naturally or if it was due to the sex but, like I said before, the sex was protected (no fluids were exchanged).

We can definitely figure this out ladies... There is something we have to be missing here!

    I am cured!

I read a post somewhere that summed it up. You have to get your ph right to grow good bacteria. Stop flushing and deuching and stuffing. Here it is.
    Go to wallmart.
    Buy rephresh pro b pills
Buy acidophilus pills (in vitamen section green bottle yellow lid)
    go home.
( if you have alot af discharge or your dry flush with plain water)
    put in a acidophilus pill.
Take a pro b pill- orally

the vag pill should compleatly dissolve in 2 hours make sure you chech on it! It will start to come out the next day, I used a little water to help it. The plan is to take a acid. Pill at night- orally now and a pro b in the morning. The pro b takes a week to really start working (says it on the bottle) so faster results with inserting it after you get out the acid pill the next day.
This may take up to a week so don't give up! The acid pill gives your body the ph balance so the pro b can grow. Make sure to take them orally because it will start your "maintinance" stage. (I suspect stuffing a acid pill after your perriod will be in order to.)

results? I have had bv for 15 years, for the first time, I can't "feeel" my vagina. He'll, it may not even be there! No slimy while I'm walking! No embarsing laundry! No smell! And thank God, no burning at all not when I pee, or sit to long, or have sex! All I have is pretty soft pink, no grey coating. Just pink

    Thank you God!

I cant find much information about ureaplasma? What are the symptoms? I have been suffering from what the drs tell me iBV for well over a year. Antiobiotics fix the problem for a few weeks and then it always comes back. I have been tested for trich, stds, etc. My symptoms are mainly burning and discharge, but my discharge is more yellowish. Thankfully I dont have any odor. ANy information you could give me would be appreciated.

I live in the us and just found the asset chemist online where I was able to purchase balance activ. You could look there for the pro-B. HOw do you like the balance activ? HOw long has it been working for you? I cant wait for it to arrive and get some relief.
