Hi Sarah, there are heaps of exercises that you can do without ever stepping into a gym or fitness class. Why don't you google something like, "Exercises for beginners" That will give you loads of options.

BUT weight loss happens more in the kitchen than in the gym! If you want to lose weight you must seriously look at your diet. All the exercise in the world won't make you lose weight if you are eating the wrong food. There are heaps of threads on this forum that will give you great nutrition and exercise advise if you look them up. You may like to have a look at the Fitness Challenge. A new one of those is just beginning so why don't you think of joining us? You will get tips, encouragement and challenge and your input will also encourage others.

Oher than that I would suggest you google a weight loss site such as loseit of calorie count (there are loads out there) which will help you counting calories (you will be shocked at just how many extra calories you are consuming!!), takes account of exercise along with setting out how many calories you should be consuming as an optimum for your weight loss goal.

Good luck and keep us posted with your progress.

I agree with snooks. I started using an online calorie counter and it really helped me learn some portion control. As for exercise programs?

Hmmm... what do you like to do? There are so many out there.

I have done a few and really like Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire the best. If you are just starting out I would suggest Turbo Jam as Turbo Fire moves really fast. But they are both fun and you will not get bored.

Keep us posted. We would love to hear what you are thinking?

Hey! I've found the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred to be awesome. It takes 20 minutes, it's a GREAT workout, and all you need are 5 pound weights.

I cannot say enough good things about Turbo Jam! I do the 20 minutes in the morning before i get ready for work and WOW. It spikes my metabolism! I absolutely love that burst of energy first thing in the morning.
I like Turbo Jams 40 minute cardio party as well.. but honestly? I prefer Zumba's sculpt and tone..

Either way, i love to move for 20 minutes in the morning.. and then 40 minutes at night..and i can feel my body changing already.
The ab workout by Zumba is pretty awesome too for a quick core strengthener..
    Do it up!

I just started the 30-day shred today ... and ok, I couldn't get through it all. Ugh. I feel so gross and old and out of shape. I keep telling myself that each day is going to get better lol I certainly hope so! I don't 100% love the video (I keep having to pause so I can work out both sides of my body...) but the energy is great. Really, anything at this point is going to help. I also picked up her 6-week 6-pack and Killer Buns & Thighs, but haven't tried them yet.

Exercising can be something moms need to do. My pediatrician just told me that I should start to work out more. The only issue is I am depressed and unmotivated. Can anyone recommend some methods that I can utilize to get excited to exercise?

i just recently joined a zumba class. it is inexpensive, $39 for 6 weeks, two nites a week. it is in the local area. the city's rec dept lets then use the elementary school gym. and omg... it is a blast. you get moving to the music and don't worry about not knowing the steps, many people (especially me) make up their own till they get the hang of it. or in my case there are about 4 times in the 45 minutes class that i just make up my own cause i just can't dance that step. but it doesn't matter.... we are all just having fun. i wish all exercise was so exciting. that hour class just flys by. dance is a great way to burn calories and get in shape and you can even do it from home. so crank up the tunes and rock it out.
