I might try the first Lord of the Rings again(I thought it was really boring at first and kind of a tough read) and I'm also gonna pick up The Voyage Out by Virginia Woolf again cos I remember liking it when I started reading it awhile ago.

I have recently read Lolita given by my girlfriend and I was shocked by the sheer beauty of the book and the way the writer has grafted the plot. In fact the flair of imagination and penetration is all that matters in a novel and first I found the book really incompatible with the world I am in a, kind of celibate world and I was in fact disillusioned for a moment and yet reality is otherwise and I sensed I have to climb the tallness of reality and in my dreamy world I could never see the beauty of life, sex, fantasy and the like. After reading this book I kind of became rather impulsive about love, sex and the like and yes I could sense fantasy, dream and drive we normally lock up inside us. I find this book incredible and I do not know whether you like it or not

I'm reading the uncensored version of The Jungle. I've read the censored version a couple of months ago. I suggest reading the censored version first. It's such a powerful book and it's my favorite. I consider the characters and Upton Sinclair to be my friends and I would love to drive to Chicago to see the city (without running into my ex boyfriend).

I tried to read the Jungle recently (not sure if it was censored or not - it's the free ebook version for Kindle,) but I couldn't get "into" the book. Too many inconsequential characters. The same thing happened with Player Piano, which has a similar message.
I've moved on to Ulysses by Joyce. We'll see how it goes ...

It was probably the censored version. In the beginning it's not so different from the censored version. It's when you really get into the meat packing parts.

I'm reading a good book by Maggie shayne, fairtale. It's pretty good, the characters are unique and the plot is both real world and mythical. The turmoil isn't over the top and thankfully not too much UN needed detail. There's a good mix of sexual tension, and the book stays on topic.
