I was watching MSNBC today to find out that, Aquafina Water is really Tap Water!!!! I am in total shock. We pay a lot of money for bottle water everyday. If I had know this I could have bottled my own water at the house. We spend too much money to be tricked!

.Is your bottled water coming from a faucet? - TODAY: Food & Wine ... (7/21/2004)
Pepsi's Aquafina is now the best-selling water brand in the U.S., while Coke's Dasani ranks second. European giant Nestle has the biggest share of the bottled water market with a number of brands ...

EXPLODING SALES: MARKETING A PERCEPTION OF PURITY

Over half of all Americans (54 percent) drink bottled water, and about 36 percent of us imbibe regularly (more than once a week). [34] Sales have nearly tripled in the last decade, to about $4 billion in 1997, rising from 4.5 gallons per year for the average American in 1986 to 12.7 gallons per year per person in 1997. [35] Americans consumed a total of 3.43 billion gallons of bottled water in 1997 (see Figure 1). [36] Globally, the market was estimated in 1995 to be worth more than $14 billion annually in wholesale sales, and it has certainly grown since then. [37] According to a 1992 inventory, there were already 700 brands of bottled water produced by about 430 bottling facilities in the United States, [38] a number that likely has grown since that time, because of the enormous expansion in bottled water sales.

It sucks because I buy it all the time. I can't always carry about a glass of water or I would.

I only like the flavored bottled water.

Dasani, Aquafina, Nestle, Fruit2-0, Clear Fruit -----I drink all the flavored kind. I can get a glass of tap water whenever (which is ok with me), but I'd rather have the flavored waters. They're pretty good.

mineral and spring waters will say so in their name or on the bottle somewhere. Spring water comes from a natural spring, and mineral water also needs to come from a natural source, but have a higher mineral content. regardless, i still drink the bottled tap water ones every now and then just for the convenience factor

I know that I'm a water snob, so I only drink Fiji or Evian... yes, it costs more but i want something that tastes good.

I'll take the pepsi challenge with Fiji and Aquafina any day!

NYC tap water is very clean. My daughter's pediatrician even recommended that i use the tap water for my baby. He says people are just wasting money buying bottled water in NYC.

I don't buy bottled water, I think it's a waste of money. I did buy one once and it was disgusting, it tasted dirty. Now if I want to take water with me I get an empty coke or whatever bottle and fill it from the tap.
