For about 2 weeks, I have noticed a fishy vaginal odor that has lingered in spite of showering in the a.m. and p.m.? What could this be and what can be done to get rid of the odor. It is very annoying.

    Default Sounds like....

It's sounds to me like it could be a Yeast Infection. Does it itch? I would go see your gynecologist. If it has been two weeks, there might be something going on.

    Good luck.

Yeast infections do not cause odor. Especially not the "fishy" odor. The fishy odor is trademark of Bacterial Vaginosis and is NOT accompanied by itching or skin irritation. That is how you know if you have yeast infection OR bacterial vaginosis. BV can only be eliminated by getting medication from your gynecologist. BV is very common and cureable. Your doc can give you a pill that only needs to be taken once.

Do not use any sort of vaginal cleansers, douche, vaginal deoderant, powder, soap, or anything else to try to get rid of the odor. It will only make it worse! The ONLY way to get rid of it is to get the meds.

    Good luck!

Yes, the cottage cheese looking stuff is yeast and the fishy smelly stuff is bacterial. My doctor gave me Metrogel and when I worked in the pharmacy, it was given often to patience. Sometimes you get both yeast and bacterial.....which is never fun. Yeast causes the worst itching ever!

You could have both Bacterial Vaginosis and a yeasy infection... Get checked by a gyno. It is only cureable with meds... They will leave a bad taste in your mouth, but it's normal...

I had the same problem off and on, mostly on, for several years. I tried every thing you can imagine without success. Finally I found Femanol and have been using it for 6 months and have not had a problem since. It also made my fingernails grow much faster and they are ultra strong now. The only downside is that it is somewhat expensive, but I guess the old saying that you get what you pay for applies here.

You mostly likely have Bacteria Vaginosis. It has a fishy smell that is horrible!

You will need to go to the doctor and get metrogel or something similar. Bacteria in your body is off..that's all. Are you on atibiotics?
