Dissolving Stitches?

Hi everyone

I hope someone out their will be able to help me or will be able to answer my question.....
Last week I was in hospital for a Septoplasty operation.
For those of you that don't know what a Septoplasty operation is.....
it's an operation done on your nose to remove some bone and some of the cartilage.
I am at home now recovering but I am extremley tired.
The doctor used dissolving stitches after the operation. What I was wanting to know is....
How long does it take for disolving stitches to disolve? It is a week today since I had the operation. Thank goodness it is behind me.

I hope somebody out their will be able to answer my question. Thank you and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Looks like it depends on how ones body reacts to them.

Absorbable sutures

Absorbable sutures are made of materials which are broken down in tissue after a given period of time, which depending on the material can be from ten days to eight weeks. They are used therefore in many of the internal tissues of the body. In most cases, three weeks is sufficient for the wound to close firmly. The suture is not needed any more, and the fact that it disappears is an advantage, as there is no foreign material left inside the body and no need for the patient to have the sutures removed.
