You're on the right track. Don't get discouraged by the scale. Your body is adjusting and you are probably gaining muscle (which weighs more than fat) and losing fat.
A better way to determine progress is going by how your clothes are fitting.

The slower you lose the weight the harder it will be to gain. When you lose weight really fast you gain it back really fast. 1 pound a week is not bad altough when you first start losing weight its likely that the first week you will lose more because its mostly water weight after that it tends to slow down becuase you actually start losing fat after that.
Hey gurl07...I understand your concerns about weight loss...however there are many disadvantages to getting thin too quickly! I would say that an hour and half of exercise a day is actually counting against you...don't get me wrong, it's an absolutely marvelous effort, but your body probably isn't accustomed to this type of strenuous exercise and over-excertion! So many of us tend to get caught up in the media and thinking that increasing our time and effort at the gym is the main thing it's going to take to get into the shape we strive for...but this isn't always the case. Did you know that there have been a phenomenal influx in studies about the power of our minds in EVERYTHING...and that's including weight loss! One of these studies conducted had three different groups press their thumbs as hard as they could onto a table-top...the scientists instructed the first group to forget about the experiment, the second group to continue the exercise once a day for two min. without thinking about it and the final group they instructed to only think about the exercise once a day, every day...when the test subjects returned in a few months the first group showed absolutely no signs of muscle improvement (big surprise); the second group showed minimal muscle gain; but the third group surprisingly had the most increase in muscle mass...how can this be?? There is more to this whole physiological need for exercise...it isn't just our muscles we must focus on! I would suggest that you look more into the meditative arts of yoga...try to find balance between body and mind. A wonderful movie for all to watch is called "The Secret"...it can help you in all pathways of your life! I think the very most important part about the battle with weight loss is just remembering to stay as positive as you possibly can...and a really great way to avoid getting discouraged with your efforts is by only weighing yourself once every one or two weeks! I hope you have the best of luck with this and just know that you will be successful when you keep your eye on what you want! I wish you the very best of luck!!
This isn't for everyone, but yeah.
I wasn't ooverweight, but I lost alot of weight when I became a vegan.
Veganism diets have very little fatty foods available, but I wouldn't recomend it unless you had strong ethical beliefs to support it.
I was a vegetarian before that, and as I said I wasn't overweight, I weighed around 7-8 stone.
Don't stop eating altogether, my boyfriend said that doesn't help lose weight at all, because when you go to eat something, your body will automatically store everything. Another thing you could try is walking everywhere - I never take a bus and I've been told my legs are very muscley (they don't feel like it though, they're like jelly!) So it could also help with toning your muscles. I think you should also try eating more fruits and vegetables, maybe salads and things - I don't think there's much fat in those. umm... I'm not to good with weight-losing and healthy diets, I eat what my mum gives me (and she's really tiny, I'm worried about her not eating enough) Also, don't try to lose weight too quickly, I think it can leave skin to be all horrible and flabby (happened to me when I became vegan... there's not much and it's not that noticeable, but I can grab it and it's irritating)
I can't remember if bread's bad for you... but I know that my mum keeps telling me to eat loads of it because it's got alot of energy? And cerials too - things like porridge and oaty snacks and stuff so you don't get worn out. If you plan on cutting things from your diet, maybe you should do it slowly, it can be very depressing for you and your body when you're addicted to sugars or caffiene or whatever it is you might be getting rid of.
Erm... I think that's everything I know... or what I think I know...
I think you're also supposed to drink lots of water too - especially if you plan on doing more excercise and things because you'll lose the water through sweat and get dehydrated and things... I hope I helped, I'm not too good with this kinda stuff.
Don't take everything I take into account, use it more as a guide. Also, maybe you should take multivitimins to make sure you're taking everything in that you need? I dunno if you should be drinking milk, I heard that we don't digest it properly, but rice milk is really nice, and it's sweet and it has been designed to go in tea and coffee too, so it can be heated. It might also be best if you prepare your own food - that way you know what's going into it.
I hope I helped in anyway... and I'm sorry if what I said was wrong. And don't be dissapointed with what you lose - any weight loss is good! And there's that little quote 'every little helps'. My boyfriends mum wanted to lose weight, she lost a pound and thought it was rubbish and I think she gave up - so don't give up!
And good luck![]()
I understand that need for instant gratification... but be patient. The obsession to lose weight quickly can create unhealthy choices. Generally the first weight you lose will come off the easiest but it might take a while for your body to get into the new routine you're creating for yourself. What I would suggest is to set an attainable goal: what weight you want to be, what pant size, ect. Stick to this goal, think positively and keep doing the things your doing. Creating a habit of exercise and small, heathly portions of food is the way to lose weight and keep it off!
Good luck!
continue with the exercise but dont over do it ,listen o your body
Hello,
Greeting of the day. I have a nice strategy for loosing weight naturally. Let me remember you onething that " If you recognize and fulfill the needs of your body, it will fulfill your needs". Let me explain.. please check :
1. Are you having balanced diet ?
2. Do you take atleast 5 litres of water a day?
3. Are you interested in unprocessed foods?
4. How about physical exercise?
5. Do you leave your stomach empty atleast once in a week?
Here is some info. about the above 5 questions.... These are very economical...
1. A so called balanced diet should serve all the requirements of human body such as carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, essential fatty acids, fiber etc. SPROUTS can serve you all these. Vegetables and fruits won't hurt your digestive system.
2. A human body requires atleast 5 litres of water a day. It helps in burning fat. Also increases efficiency of digestion.
3. Nature really meant for serving mankind. It delivers all that what we want. Forget about processed foods and animal stuff. You can go for Salads, fruits and vegetables, honey, cashew nuts..
4. Yoga is the best physical exercise. Its all about leading life in a natuaral way.
5. Fasting is the best medicine. But remember to take honey and lime juice(2 tsps) mixed in water once for every 60 minutes. It prevents you from falling sick. Practice it once in a week.
