Cool Essure isnt so sure after all

Hey ladies. If you are searching this site to have essure, dont do it. If you are on this site because you have had problems...then I can relate. That is why I am here to warn others. I had the procedure when I was 28 after my
3rd child (Sept 2007). I was always around 82-99 lbs even after my pregancies. I am short and petite. After my 3rd, I lost weight and went down to 110. When he was 2 months old, my doctor was pushing essure because I didnt want anymore kids. I really wanted a normal tubal but the doctors insisted that essure was safer and better recovery and less chances of pregnancies after.

I had the procedure with general anesthesia. The pain after was controllable with motrin but still felt like bad cramps. I was bleeding for about a month...a bad period for a month with cramps and bleeding is what it felt like. Also I kept having spasms from the tubes for the initial 3 months the scar tissue was forming. I also like some people in this forum could "feel" the tubes. It really did feel like sand in your eye or something that just wasnt normal. Eventually this feeling went away after like 6 months for me. My periods are still regular and nothing has really changed as far as that goes. So I thought. The past few months I have been having pelvic pain (feels like a bad stomachache all the time). I also have been struggling with weight since the surgery. Like I said I was always skinny. I am now 134 which is over 30 lbs my normal weight. No matter what with exercise I cant lose. Essure site swears it doesnt cause weight gain but it I can tell you it definitely messes up your normal hormone cycle. It also interferes with the natural process of ovulation. I had an ultrasound last week and got the results today. My gyno took an U/S because of the pelvic pain and also the numerous bacterical vaginal infections I have had since essure. Just a constant cramping, fish odor....my doctor also said I have a really mucus discharge (which I never had any of this before essure). But when you think of foreign objects in your tubes (I guess its not uncommon to get all kinds of infections). My ultrasound results showed that I have TONS of follicles (cysts) in my ovaries now. The doc said this is most likely from essure because my body isnt releasing the eggs like it should. I also have been super grumpy since essure (my hubby can vouch). hehe. I have been really tired and just not myself. I really wish I had never does this. My doctor said my only option now is to go to a pelvic pain clinic and have non-surgical procedures to ease the pain. She also said to go on birth control pills to level out my hormones. Why in the world would I do that? That was the reason I had essure in the first place, not to take birth control. As my dad told me today, "your hubby should had just been snipped." Ladies, if your hubby doesnt want to, then deny him sex. hehe. Just kidding. Do something other than essure. The procedure is too new to really know the side effects. If I read this forum in 2007, I would had never done this. I was pressured by the military hospital to do it because it was new and they needed a guinea pig for the residents. PLEASE, try something else. My doctor recommends just doing an IUD.

Did they do a pregnancy test on you? Someone needs to confirm if you are pregnant or not. I am not real big on the sonograms because I had two vaginal ultrsounds and they did not show a problem. My advice is that it is your body and if you are having pain then someone needs to find out what is causing it. If your current doctor will not help you change doctors. Just don't let them push you around. Read Aphrodites forums on essure and you will see that a lot of doctors refuse to admit that the essure metal coils cause problems. Keep us posted.

Little Momma, I don't know if this could be the cause of some of your problems but some women have allergic reactions to the nickel in the metal coils and that can cause all sorts of chemical or hormonal imbalances. Might be worth checking into to see if you have some sort of allergic reaction going on. Another poster has posted about the feeling bad, fatigue and all sorts of other problems and it was discovered that she was allergic to the metal coils. Talk with your doctor about getting tested but be sure and mention that the skin patch test may not be accurate.

Wow. I just got Essure done this past Friday. I really have no complaints. I have cramping when I stress out but it's manageable especially since my doctor gave me lots of pain pills. He felt bad for me because the one local didn't work so I felt the coils go in so that is why he gave me so many meds I think. However, I won't know till November if it worked. I have faith it will. There was an Essure representative there helping him. I'm sorry so many of you have had such horrible experiences with it.

    Default I hate Essure

I went to the doc Monday. My CT and ultrasound didnt really show anything to be causing my constant bleeding and pain. The doc had an attitude and assured me this is not due to Essure, that it is a hormonal problem and wants to put me on birth control pills to fix it. I asked whats going to fix the pain? He really dont know how to answer me. I hate this. I know everything happening to me is because of Essure. I wish we all could form together and create a website just for Essure HATERS!! SO when people started researching Essure they would see the website pop up and not have to search so hard to find this one. I would love to SUE the out of these lying sac of S--t people promoting this junk they want to put inside people's bodies. Surely if enough of us congragated together some attorney somewhere would have the balls to sue this company and the stupid docs who are out and out lying to their patients to protect themselves. I am just really angry and frustraited about this whole thing.

stee5, You may need to change doctors. A lot of us faced the same indifference by our doctors to our pain. I went to a major hospital to have mine removed. They didn't seem to really care about my pain but were interested in trying to see if they could remove them. It bothered me that they didn't care about my pain but at least they got them out. Let me know if you have any questions. You can click on my name and read my profile.

    Default Allergic reaction

I too was(still am) having alot of pain form Essure. I didn't think much of it when I first had the procedure done, my lower abdomen started itching. This changed into itching all over, and later to the palms of my hands and the bottoms of my feet itching and then swelling. The pain started getting really bad about the time when I noticed the all over itching. This is when I started going to the Dr., after several tests and appointments. We find out that I am allergic to Colophony, I know what the heck is that?? It is found in resins, makeups, adhesives....which made alot of since I have reactions to adhesives and sometimes when I get mascara in my eye it will swell almost shut. So after some research on my and the allergists part we find out that the PET fibers on the coils contain colophony. So needless to say I am scheduled for surgery to have them removed in a couple of weeks. The pain keeps getting increasingly worse and is really started to affect my day to day life. I will say that the allergists recommended that I take Zyrtec to help out, and it does help alot.

Not sure if this will help anyone out, but I thought I would share in case anyone else has the reaction to adhesives.

Well I knew that some posters have posted concerns about the PET fiber but I thought that the problems were more from the fiber illicting tissue growth and causing overgrowth. I haven't heard of anyone actually being allergic to the PET fiber. It seems that the more this procedure is done the more it is found to cause problems.
Please report your problem to the FDA. Doctors and patients need to be made aware of all the problems associated with this procedure.

    Post Hoping that mine works

I had Essure Done Three months ago going on four months now and I am still not blocked on the left side. I am a little worried now because my coil broke during the placement. So now I have a piece broken off and am wondering what will happen now. I read some other women that had ones that are defective well I would say mine was to!!!! My number on the card is 629142 the other womens all stared with 6. I am also concerned that now maybe someday I might also become pregnant. I wish I would of known about this wed site before I had it done.
