I am sorry that you are not blocked. Many women are facing problems with this procedure. The manufacturer will probably recommend that they leave the coils in place and tie the one tube that is not blocked. I cannot recommend this procedure to anyone. After having problems myself, I did a lot of research and I have found too much evidence that the metal coils do not always stay in place even after so called sucessful HSG.

Your doctor may not be willing to try and remove the coils. A lot of doctors do not know how. You should do lots of research and decide what you are comfortable with. It is your body, not the doctors or the manufacturer. If they have to do a tubal on the one side, you will be put to sleep so if you are uncomfortable in any way leaving the coils in place then that would be the time to have them removed. Let us know how things turn out.

I will precede all my comments by saying I have one of THE best doctors, to whom I attribute the success of my procedure, and I fully believe that some people have not had the same luck, unfortunately.
I completed my HSG test this week after having the Essure procedure done in March. The Essure was flawless- afterwards took a two-hour nap then was up and at 'em for the evening. I would describe it as just mild discomfort. HSG was relatively painless. In fact, I asked my doctor, "That's it?" (and I would NOT say that I have an abnormally high pain threshold!) A few days prior to when I had my Essure scheduled, I called to ask the nurses some questions. I was really nervous after reading all the horror stories on various websites. My doctor called me back personally and took time to answer all my questions. I haven't had a single regret. HOWEVER, I don't think it's possible to determine how it will go for everyone. Everyone's pain threshold is different; everyone's bodies are different; everyone's overall health is different, obviously, and these should all be taken into account (again, obviously!) My doctor, whom I trust entirely, has seen no major complications and has been performing this for years; he even shared that he performed Essure on his wife. Talk to your doctor and have all the questions answered before following through. Find out how long he/she has been doing the Essure procedure. I believe this was a huge factor in the success of my procedure.

It is interesting being able to relate to so many of you making posts. LSK, I can easily see how you feel so comfortable with having the procedure completed by such a trustworthy doctor. On the other hand...
Now, I had the Essure procedure done in July 2008. The recovery time was not long, but I did have some cramping that my doctor me was due to swelling. (I did not take the prescription Ibuprofen they allowed me.) However, I had no spotting, no bleeding at all.
In October 2008, I had the HSG follow up. Again, this was not painful. It was a simple procedure that confirmed the coils were placed correctly and the blockage was 100%.
TODAY, June 2009, I am sitting here 8 weeks pregnant!!! The ultrasound showed 2 things, I am missing the coil that was once placed on the right side and secondly, the baby is in the uterus-yay! At least something good came of this, and a tubal pregnancy is not the case.
However, my doctors office has NEVER had a missing coil, and never a pregnancy after the confirmed HSG follow up!! In my opinion, I took the word of my TRUSTED doctor and utilized this new Essure procedure- no down time, expense of only an office visit, and noninvasive!
Again, everything went so extremely smooth, but now I am pregnant!!!! It completely speaks for itself. Being optimistic, hopefully the missing coil is found, the baby delivers as perfect as my first 3, they remove my existing coil and a successful tubal ligation is performed!
DO NOT PROCEED WITH ESSURE, unless you really want another baby...

I had the essure procedure at the beginning of Feb. It was done about 1 week after i was given the "shot" for 3 months of BC. I bled for 4 months straight. I had my HSG in May. One side worked, the other side's insert floated to my Uter. I have to now have an Outpatient procedure done while knocked completely out with a different doc to try to get the insert out and have a tubal. I would never hae this done again. It sunded great, but from my experience, it is too good to be true.

Default 8 months after essure I am pregnant!

    Hi everyone,
Oct 6th 2008 I had essure done it was covered by medicaide here in Va. I was evicted from my home after my husband was injured and not able to work. So we moved to Culpeper in Virginia . I went to go get HSG done and medicaide wouldnt pay for it. I moved far from where I got it from and couldnt get back up there. I just had an ultra sound done and everything seems to be in place I am just not closed up! Or I maybe They couldnt see if I was or not. Does anyone know if anyone has sued over this. I made a concious dission after 3 children I couldnt afford anymore nor did I want another baby. I of course do not want an abortion. So I am going to end up caring this baby to term. Is there a lawsuit in this?? I mean obviously there is no fault by my doc. He put them in right but could anyone sue Essure? I keep reading all the failures done with Essure. Could there be a lawsuit in this?? I even read if I got the HSG it could be a false positive those arent a 100%! if anyone knows please let me know I am almost 8 wks pregnant going crazy cause I am not suposed to be able to have kids. I had to complications with the springs.. none fell out no pain.. no bleeding. all normal except I am PREGNANT!!!!!

    Thanks
    Chris

I think if we all get together.. And find a lawyer who will take this... I think we can all file a class action lawsuit together I think all the Essure failures should get to gether and find a lawyer. I had the procedure done in oct. of 08! I just found out June of 09 I am 7 wks pregnant! This procedure was pushed on me by my doc saying its going to replace tubal ligation! But personaly I wish I would have gone through it if it seems too good to be true than it is!!! I dont believe in abortions but are we just screwed we shouldnt take this from this company! Its the company not the doctors as much as I dont like my old doc. Its not his fault the device is Defective! 99.8% my ! PersonallY I think we should stick together. I want to sue the cost of raising this next child! Anyone with me????

Ladies, I'm sorry that the essure procedure did not work for you. I hope that your pregnancys go well. Please report your pregnancy to the maude FDA database. The company is supposed to make reports but I know that they never did in my case. The doctors are also supposed to make reports, mine didn't. I find it interesting that many women get the same reaction from their doctors that there are absolutely no problems with the essure metal coils. That it is just unheard of for problems to occur. In my case and in some others that I have read about, the doctors have to call the company and the company tells them that it isn't possible for the problem or problems that have occurred.

I also thought I had a good caring doctor. I trusted him completely. He recommended the procedure and said it was very simple. If you had told me prior to essure ordeal that he wasn't a great doctor I would not have believed you. I've done my research now and I strongly feel that any doctor performing this procedure really doesn't have his/her patients best interest in mind. You can argue with me on that point but do your research and talk to other healthcare people and see what their reaction is to putting metal coils made of nickel into the fallopian tubes. Research what nickel can do to your body. Research the PET fiber that causes tissue growth. Research how metal can migrate around in soft tissue. The doctors performing this procedure have just as much responsibility as the company making the devices. If the doctors did their homework instead of taking the word of some sales rep then they wouldn't do the procedure. It is all about money at this point. The doctors can make more money doing the essure than a tubal. The company is trying to push the procedure so they can make money.

Sorry for the rant. This just simply is awful that they are doing this to women.

I am looking to start a class action lawsuit in Northern Virgina for failure of the Essure Procedure. Because wrongful pregnancy suits will not get enough the lawyer said I should try and start a class action lawsuit against the essure company! So if you are in Northern VA please email me ChristineHibshmangmail.com so we can contact a lawyer so we can sue the pants off Conceptus

    Default Essure failure

I live in South Carolina. I am interested also in a class action suit against Conceptus.

I got the Essure devices on 6/13/07. after the procedure everything seemed normal. I got the HSG done in September it appeared that everything was placed and postioned correct. In November I started having what appeared to be gallbladder attacks. I had a ultrasound and a HIDA scan that both showed that my gallbladder and it surroundings were okay, so I was reluctant and did not have my gallbladder removed because the test did not show any problems although I was told that it could be biliary and would not show up. In Feb had more right sided pain and a CT scan was ordered. This was the final step before deciding to remove my gallbladder. I had the CT scan and boy was I in for a shock! The device on the left side had come out and was stuck between my sigmoid colon and uterus. Boy was I scared. I went too my GYN and the 1st thing he said after reading the report is that we have to get this taken out. So on Feb 27, 08 I had to have surgery to have the device removed. The removal was done both lap and hysteroscopy. The left side had begun embedding itself. Once in to remove the right side, it was noted to have been out of my tubes also. If I had not gotten the CT scan for something that I did not think was related then I would not have known that the Essure devices had expelled from tubes and could have caused major damage to my colon and other organs. Thank goodness I did not get pregnant or required a colostomy bag because of damage to my colon. Since having them removed I have not had any problems. During the removals I got my tube tied laparoscopic.

Angels Watching, Did your doctor have any change of opinion about the essure procedure after seeing what happened to you? I'm curious because so many of the doctors seem to refuse to admit that the essure metal coils could cause any problems at all.
