Sounds cool, I could never do something like that!
I learnt how to knit last year, I made a red scarf and am currently knitting a black one for my Aunty.
it has taken me some 18 years to pick up a pair of needles and some wool again, but now there is no stopping me
i spotted some hand spun and dyed wool at a local market in Victoria (AU)
and that was enough to inspire me. i am knitting a hooded vest with a kangaroo pouch, so i can keep my head, hands and heart warm in winter.
what is your current project?

I used to know how to knit when i was a child, but I have lost that skill since I have not been using it much. As winter is fast approaching here in South Africa, I would love to make myself a scarf or something. I was wondering are there any sites you would recommend from which I can re-learn the basics.
I'm a big knitter myself. Working on my umpth pair of knitted socks & have about 8 other projects on needles right now. I too cant get enough of it - completely addicted to yarns! I cant get enough in my stash! Favorite Hobby of all!
i friends daughter had a baby recently and she commented on al the lovely presents the baby got but not one hand knitted item, so back home, i found my needles and made a jacket and a sleeping bag with cabling on it for him, made then a bit large for room to grow and she loves them to bits!!! was nice to actually do this for someone as knitting has lost its fashion since the babies clothes have come down in price here and most buy things of sweatshirt type fabric
I love knitting too. I have to have several projects going at the same time because sometimes I get bored working with one and I switch to another.
I'm making a ruana for myself. I made one last year for my mother-in-law and then I decided that I wanted one. It is a charcoal gray with a metallic silver thread running through it. The edges will be crocheted with the same silver thread.
I'm also making booties for twin baby boys. They fold down and I found cute buttons that look like baseballs.
My other project is a throw for my 4 year old niece. The yarn is actually made out of bamboo. The colors are fuscia, lime green, yellow, and white. I'm making big squares (garter stitch) and I'll crochet the squares together.
Last year I made some cabled hats for my daughters.
Can anybody recommend a good knitting book? What's your favorite and where do you find your patterns?

I love knitting! I currently have three projects going on, a sweater and two scarves, and I also want to start a pair of gloves and a hat. I really want to try spinning my own yarn, has anyone tried taht before?
I can knit, as in I know how to, I just don't do it much. Usually when I need to give a cheap gift lol.
