I'm only 20 and have been told that the cysts on my ovaries are suspicious. Is it even possible to get ovarian cancer this young? It does run in the family on both my mum and my dads side. But usually not until mid to late 20's. I'm really scared i am suffering for all of the symptoms assosiated. i really want my own family and don't wont to deal with this at the moment. I have had a very hard 5 year period and don't kow how to go about handling this. Can someone please tell me anything they know about it. All i know is my mums side of the family have both ovarian and cervical cancer and have all required hysterectomys (i think thats the word) by the age of 28-30. I'm so scared someone please help

It is possible but you should talk to your doctor about it and find out if you have it. Another reason for cysts on your ovaries is PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Talk to your doctor, he or she will be able to help you the best with knowing what it could be.

Ive had PCOS for 7 years now. and they say that the cysts are getting bigger. As well as that I am unable to eat atm and urinating all the time, as well as suffering servre back and abdominal pain. I been having problems since i first got my period

You don't have to be old to get cancer.

Cancer starts off with one problematic cell and it gets worse over time. It probably took 5 years for your condition to get where it's at.

And as a young vibrant woman i don't think that's relevant and don't be frightened.

Some family history of course is repeated.

Some it skips a generation.

The solution here is to do what Lexi said, see your Doctor and see what else you can do at this stage to help you.

Hi.i realize that it is very easy to make a comment 'try not to panic' as every woman who has a family history of ovarian and cervical cancer would do ..if you have been informed that your cyst is suspicious it does not mean it is definitely cancer. There are a number of types of cysts and a number of reasons why they can be present. Non cancerous are removed as well as are PRE cancerous cells on the cervix - when pre cancerous cells on the cervix are removed, it is not cancer..it just means there is a 'chance' a woman could develop cancer ...depending on the stage of the PRE cancerous cells CN1 CN2 or CN3 , the third stage still not cancer BUT it needs a different type of treatment but not always removal of the womb. Thats why its so important you attend regular PAP tests as im sure you do as with everything it can be treated at the earliest possible stage. Even if there was any part of the reproductive organs removed you still have the egg feezing option and IVF ect there are so many things that can be done to help women . You are a young woman and they will be very careful and will not remove anything unless it is deemed absolutely necessary . Good Luck thinking of you at this difficult time .
