Post belly button soreness, tightness, swelling from tummy tuck

    Hi,
I had tummy tuck surgery about a year ago and wound up getting necrosis, which is when there is no oxygen in that area of the skin; the result is the skin turns black and the area needs to be debrided (cleaned out)...this was done 3 times. From the first day, my belly button area has never felt right; it has swelling above, up to under my boobs and below, down to the horizontal scar. Within the last few months it has been swollen and hard and the skin around the belly button is red/gray sort of...hard to describe. Lately it feels like my umbilical cord area is being pulled out of my stomach...lots of pressure. My surgeon sent me to a nurse that does lymphatic massage. I have since learned from her that there is a condition called lipedema, where the fat cells are different and don't have as much oxygen. She thinks that has affected the healing which has been extremely slow. If you google lipedema it give good information about the condition; this was in the area of the necrosis (dead skin). As far as the belly button soreness, swelling, etc...no one seems to believe me that this is a problem. I finally squawked so much about it that my surgeon is sending me for an abdomen ct scan. But yes, I have felt the same thing and I don't know how to fix it. If I'm on my feet alot during the day it seems to increase the pressure, etc..., at night. Don't feel like you're alone because I'm feeling it too.

I had to be debrided 12 times and lost the nipples. They are extremely painful.

The biggest problem is my stomach. Has anyone had bloating, tenderness, incrediable tightness, (For those of you who have been pregant can understand) it feels like being 9 months with a big baby trying to turn, but constantly.

If anyone can answer or share info I would greatly appreciate it. I have seen so many doctors and no one can give me answers. I am searching everywhere for help.

    Thanks - MTJ

I am very sorry to hear about your condition and I hope that you’ve had some positive progress after the scab was cut off. I am planning to go for a TT to remove my post baby belly. At the same time I am also concerned about the stretch marks that pregnancy has left me with. I wanted to know if a TT would aggravate those marks or leave fresh scars. Is it advisable to go for a TT right after pregnancy? How long will it take to get my body ready for the treatment?

I did alot of research on tummy tucks and how they work, in addition did alot of research on the surgeon I chose. I had two babies and got really big during the pregancies I had ALOT of stretch marks and extra skin after losing the weight. I had the last baby a year ago and just got my tt a month ago. I am sorry to hear about all the problems these women are having with their tts because mine went well a few problems with infection and loosening of the stitches but nothing serious. The problem with stretch marks is that the skin there is so thin and weak so when the doc stitches you up, there could be problems if you are too tight that the stitches will come lose with the weak skin which is what happen to me but he sutured me and had me come in every week til it got better. And now I have never been more happier with the surgery the best decision I made!!! GOOD LUCK

Hi I am going through the tummy tuck right now at 6 weekd post op. It looks and feels like 10K worth of . I dont go back for a few weeks but I am going to see what he will do for me. They are quick to blame us. For me it was "not resting" enough. Hey anymore rest and I would have been in a coffin. I'd like to talk to anyone on the phone who has had the bloating, tightness and severe swelling. I still have a big lower belly. It feels like my right stitch has came out altogether. It hurts so bad. I keep ice down my shirts and pants all day and bags of peas on my wounds at night. If anyone is or has had a similar problem and they dont mind the phone call I would like to talk. (my expense) The time I spend typing is a waste. I would appreciate the help or written advice. Thanks

Hello has any of you healed yet? this is kinda scary for me. I just had a partial tummy tuck about 3 weeks ago. I googled tummy tucks gone bad and it brung me to this website. My reason for researching is b/c I think my incision is too tight. I just wondered is it way too soon. And if any of you eventually got ok?

Thumbs up Cost of my tummy tuck and breast augmentation: $6,500!!!

I decided to have a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck because my triplets obviously left me with plenty of unwanted skin and stomach muscles that couldn't be repaired with situps alone.
I just had my procedure 1 month ago in latin America at MakeoverTravel clinic. I had to stay 15 days in Bolivia before taking my flight back and I actually feel great! The first few days were rough, but surprisingly I only had to take pain medication for 4 days! The only thing that's heartbreaking for me is that I can not pick up my 2 year olds and they don't understand why, but I look great already!! :-)
