Hello everyone its me again, went to the clinic and well my iud was now further out today about 1cm out she just removed it, it was not painful.

It came out twisted and apparently wasn't sitting properly had they listened to me 3 weeks ago this wouldn't have occurred.

Will l have it re-inserted???? Honestly l dont know if l do will go to different place and not be treated like a statistic coz my body was telling me something wasnt right but they thot i was overeacting.

Lesson learnt is ..next time be more in control at the end of the day its my body and i get to suffer esp imagine if my uterus was to be punctured...

Just thought i'd add my experience! FYI I'm 24. After having three babies in the first 4 years of marriage i was ready to not be pregnant for awhile! I don't like the idea of messing with my body's natural hormones and wanting something convenient and sure to work, I went with the copper T. Got it a year ago 6 weeks after i had my last baby. Insertion was a breeze all i felt was some pressure and a lil cramp, but then after 3 babies that close I was pretty stretchy down there! was a lil crampy feeling afterward but not enough to interupt my day! And I was on Medicaid at the time so it was diffinitely most cost effective! It's been absolutely awsome,my husband never feels it and we don't have to worry about remembering anything! (we tryed condoms after our second :P neither one of us liked that! hubby threatened to get "fixed" if we didn't find something different! Haha) except for that .1% question of "what if I would get pregnant on this thing! agh!"=0 but I'm not too worried about that. The only side effect I have is that I start spotting about 2 days before my period and then about 2-5 days afterward. Any answers on that any one? A little aggrivating but I can deal with it. My sister has had 1 for 2 years and she loves hers too!

Thumbs up So far so good with the copper IUD

I just got my Flexi-T copper IUD inserted two days ago. The insertion was pretty intense. I was on the last day of my period and had taken a prescription pain med I usually take for bad menstrual cramps to prepare for the pain. I only felt the one main extreme cramp, and two very mild ones for a few seconds each. After that I was only slightly uncomfortable, pain-wise, but I had a vaso-vagal reaction. I first noticed that my legs were shaking and I felt a rush of nervousness and nausea. I assume it was around that time that I turned freakishly pale. I remember laying down on the bed in the doctors office, beginning to lose consciousness, and the next thing I knew, there were two nurses with a wheelchair standing ready for me. I thankfully did not need to use the wheelchair, however I did head directly to the toilet where I had diarrhea. Apparently this reaction is not uncommon during iud insertion, fainting diarrhea and all.

That being said, the insertion process was unpleasant. Nowhere near the projected 15 minute visit the clinic receptionist advertised. The receptionist also said I would not need anyone to come to teh visit with me, but am I ever glad a friend happened to accompany me, as she was necessary for me to get home. After recovering in the clinic for about 45 minutes after hte insertion, I was ok enough to walk the 5 blocks home. We walked at a snail pace, but I did not experience any further pain. For the rest of the day I was out of commission. I was mostly uncomfortable, but ibuprofens were adequate to control it. The next day I was pretty much back to normal, and by the evening was even able to have sex (climax included)

In short, the insertion process was hellish, but considering what my reactions to hormones have been, and my aversion to having babies at this point in mine and my husband's lives, it seems like it'll be worth it.

Hope this helps. I will post again in the future about my experiences with it. I find there are too many negative posts about the iud. I suppose people who have problems with them feel more of a need to warn others than those who have no complaints.

    Unhappy copper iud

i wouldn't reccomend the copper iud. i have troubles with birth control, the hormones dont really agree with me so i wanted to try something that didnt have any, because i was pregnant and had an abortion and i dont really want to go through that again. When I got my first period after inserting it, I had cramps about 4 days before i actually started bleeding. And when that started the amount of pain i was in crippled me, i would sweat and could hardly breathe it hurt so bad, and the bleeding was very irregular, i could go from really light bleeding to none at all, to severely heavy bleeding, and this lasted about a week. I'm currently going through my second menstrual cycle since having this inserted and im about ready to get this thing out. I have taken ibuprofen, tylenol, nothing helps the pain either.

    Talking Positive review on Paragard!

I'm a 35yr old. I have one child who is now 6yrs old. I don't plan on having anymore kids. I stopped using the pill last year this month. I was having more and more mood swings and no sex drive what so ever. I have had these symtoms for a while. Anyway, I'm not going to say "I don't recommend IUDs" Everybody's body is different. You may already have pre-exsisting conditions that may contribute to the discomfort, cramping, excessive bleeding, and severe pain after IUD insertion.

I did not experience any of the sort when I had Paragard inserted. I was shocked that it was over before I knew it. One thing I did hear the gynecologist say was "yeah, not a tilted utereus" I had no cramping, no excessive bleeding, no pain! This was 2 days ago. I'm still bleeding a bit, but no pain! I only took Ibuprophen on insertion day and that's it!

What I'm gonna do is that I'm giving this IUD a chance. I'm giving it until my 3week check-up. If I"m still feel good, I'm good to go. I seriously think that if you are in so much pain for that long, then it's time to go to the doctors' and get an ultrasound to see that it was in the right place. I didn't pay until I saw that it was placed correctly in my utereus.

Clairebanks: Are you still having pain? Have you felt the strings only? Is it just the feeling that it's falling out? For me it's a mental thing. Cause I know that it's there and I making myself beleive that it's gonna fall out. Even though it's not. I know it's not cause I felt the strings last night when I took a shower.

    Default Love it:)

I just thought i'd share my experience for anyone of thinking of getting this iud.. I had been on Yaz, and i took it for about a month and gained 10 lbs not to mention i was very hormonal. I was going to switch to the Mirena but heard a lot of negative things about it. So i decided to find out some information about the Copper Iud. I have to say, reading these forums was not a very good idea, they had me completly overreacting. I wasn't going to get the iud after reading them, but decided it was kind of the best option.

The insertion of the Iud was not painful at all, the only thing that was uncomfortable was when the doctor measured my uterus.

That pain felt like a short period cramp. I did not have any pain afterwards, and did not feel any different. Then the time came to have my first period, I had cramps about 2 weeks before I started, they were a little more intense, but i only had like one a day. My first period was 4 days of light bleeding and 5 of regular. I have now had my iud for 5 months, and i LOVEE it My periods have become normal (about 5 days) and I have no cramping. I was led to believe I was going to bleed heavily every period and have unbearable cramps lol. I think it effects everyone differently, but I am very happy with mine. Its like its not even there.

If you are thinking about getting one, I would highly recommend it, based on my personal experience. The first couple months aren't perfect but after about the 3rd i was back to normal. if you do get it, wait at least 4 months before you decide whether its for you or not.

Okay, about a month thus far with my IUD. I wrote a lengthy reply about this in another thread, so I'll try to keep this one short.

Never had kids, am 23 years old, and insertion was moderately painful for just a few seconds. The pain went away as quickly as it began. I had some big cramps the rest of that day, to be honest, but they went away by the following morning.

Over the next couple of weeks, had some kind of discomfort every now and then (just moments of OH hey, there's something in my uterus), but those also went away.

First period was heavy, with cramps, which I wasn't happy about because I never had cramps before. But I'm hopeful that this too will resolve itself.

My SO and I have been sooo happy with this thing. No hormones, no remembering to take a pill, sex is great, he can't feel the strings (even though I left them long)...

    Yay for IUDs!

    Thumbs up 1 week upadte!

Well, it's been a week and I have felt normal. I have ABSOLUTELY NO CRAMPS AT ALL . One thing I do feel is a twitch here and there. Have some eggwhite discharge, no bleeding. I have been checking the strings nightlly (paranoid). I have a really good feeling that I am going to be just fine with my Paragard. Any other ladies who can give their positive input would be appreciated. There are too many women out there hearing sooo many bad stories about IUDs. WE need positive experiences. I too recommend it.
