    Unhappy Dealing with Anxiety

Hello everyone, I came to this forum to help deal with my Anxiety that I have had for the past 2 1/2 years. It started after I was attacked by are Doberman we had adopted from are shelter, he attacked me in front of my 2 smaller children, I had 22 stitches in the bottom of my mouth, he ripped my bottom lip in half. We did get rid of him but I had severe nightmares. I got a little better after I got my 1st Yorkie Kloey, I used her as a healing tool, bun unfortunetly she was hit by a speeding car in front of my home and was killed, she was only a yr old. After she passed I was just devastated and sunk right back into more panic attacks. Kloey was a godsend to me and she helped me in so many ways, and I just don't understand why she was taken from me so soon. Kloey knew I was very sad and I think she was up in heaven making arrangements for me to get a new baby girl and I was blessed with Lillie my new 5 mon old Yorkie (avatar) But I still am coping with my anxiety. My symptoms change, but most the time I have bad headaches, nausea, dry mouth, numbness in my hands, cold chills, motion sickness and very bad mood swings. I'm trying to deal with this the best I can do and advoid medication if possible. But I'm about at my wits end. I have thought about seeking counceling and I think thats going to be my next step.
My husband is very supportive but I just dont think he understands what I'm going through, until you have a attack, you just don't understand.
I hope I can find others here on this forum who is going through what I'm going though. A support group is so wonderful.

Hello! Sorry to hear about all of the troubles! There is a lot in my life that is similar to what you have described. I had an Argentine Mastiff who died and left me completely heart broken. I got myself a little Yorkie named Bailey shortly after that and she lifted my spirits.

I have had anxiety my whole life. It recently got very bad to the point of panic attacks. My doctor wanted to put me on medications, but I am completely against it because of the side effects. So I decided to stick it out and try to manage on my own. I have found that regular exercize REALLY helps! It forces your body to release built up energy and chemicals that aid in our anxiety. I also stay away from things that make me excited or raise my blood pressure such as caffiene or energy drinks. Also staying happy and healthy really makes a difference. You need to stay busy and active. Keeping your stress down is very important. You also need to make a habit of facing your fears and triggers of anxiety. The more you avoid them, the greater your reactions will be to the anxiety. I also make sure to eat as soon as I need to. For some reason, if I get too hungry, my anxiety gets worse. Strange.

I would also recommend getting a physical workup from your doctor to make sure there is not something contributing to your symptoms. For example, hormone imbalances and thyroid problems can cause the same symptoms. Taking certain medications can cause those symptoms as well.

    Smile Panick attacks

I've been dealing with panick attacks for about 5 years now. The scary thing about them is that I had heart surgery at 18 years old and my panick attacks feel just like a heart attack! You can imagine the "panick" that throws me into. Even though my mind knows that I am physically fine, my body screams "Get a doc! There's something wrong!!".
I haven't found any sure fire way to get rid of the attacks but I completely cut out caffiene because it was a huge trigger. Staying busy also helps me deal with my attacks.
It seems that the minute I get still or stand stationary at all I suddenly can't breath and get dizzy.
I realize I haven't been helpful, it's a problem I deal with daily, but it's nice to know you aren't the only person going through something like this. I hope I did that for you and if you ever need to talk about it (ya know, just vent a little) let me know ANYTIME!!

    Wink try this

Regards from chile; [B][COLOR=Magenta]I really know what you're talking about , i suffered from panic and anxiety attacks , i even was so afraid to go out with friends and go to work and had many of the symptoms you mentioned.

i tried counselling, therapy, psychologists and psychiatrists but in the end they didn't help me.I became addicted to pills and spent a lot of money in therapy ,till a friend of mine who had been raped told me about homeopathy, these bach and California flowers helped her and helped me as well, it took over a year but now i feel really good and never had a panic or anxiety attack and left all the pills i used to take.
and the best of this treatment is that is 100% natural and you wont have side effects.
it really works you just have to be patient .

    Lightbulb Help for your ANXIETY??

First of all, I'm not staying that all those treatments before mentioned don't work, but for me, I stumbled across something I'd like to share with you all who are suffering from anxiety.

Thank God for this mineral!! I have suffered with severe anxiety symptoms for about 20 years. Three weeks ago I began the Atkins diet, so I continued taking my multivitamin and bought an additional magnesium
supplement to take to cut down on the muscle cramps and twitches sometimes caused from this diet. All of a sudden, after about 2 weeks on the magnesium, I noticed that my irritability, anxiety, fear, fatigue, and mild depression were gone!! I am being much nicer and friendlier to people now. I feel like my eyes have been opened to a whole new world!! I am no longer afraid to face people!! Before, I mistook it as extreme shyness. Everyone thought I was being mean or stuckup. I didn't want to walk into a room with anyone in it, nor make a simple phone call to take care of business! I would actually wait until the business closed so I could leave a message on their voice mail and not have to talk to them directly!! When I would go into a restaurant, I would make sure that I sat to where I was facing no one! I have not gone to social or school functions because my anxiety was so crippling!! When a date would suggest an outing such as swimming, I could never go, due to my anxiety of drowning! I've missed out on so much!! I feel so fortunate that I discovered the wonders of magnesium by chance. I love life now!! I finally feel like I'm free!!!!

Since finding this miracle mineral, I've done some research and found out that it can also help children who suffer from ADD or ADHD and can also curb migraines!! Anyone who has this same type of anxiety, PLEASE try a magnesium supplement for just 2-3 weeks and see if it makes a difference! Sure beats having to take all kinds of prescribed anxiety meds, and cheaper too! If you try the magnesium and it works wonders for you as it has me, please reply to my post and post your own testimonial to help others, as I have tried to do!

I'm sorry that you're dealing with this! I'm going through the same thing so I know how much it really stinks. You're right to stay away from medicine. I recently got put on Klonopin and it has made me soooo sick. Ativan at night (a small dosage) may help though if you have a hard time sleeping.

    Good luck with everything!

I've only suffered with anxiety the past couple of years...and I will completely agree with exercise helping...not entirely...but it does help...yoga is great for anxiety and teaching proper breathing to get you through the really tough moments...i like aromatherapy too...i do believe, after reading the previous post that I may try an additional suppliment...but there is magneseum in the multi vitamin i take allready...and i wonder how much is too much?
Best of luck to you...and I agree with you about not taking drugs to get throught this...i think you could end up worse off in the long run.

i AM SO SORRY YOU ARE GOING THRU THIS. i SUFFERED A BAD DEPRESSION/ANXEITY OVER THE SUMMER. TRY NOT TO FIGHT THE MEDS. THEY HELP AND THEY MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GO AND TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. SAY YOU ARE THERE NOT TO COMMIT TO A PILL BUT TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN HELP YOU. A THERAPIST IS A GOOD IDEA AS WELL. I WAS ALWAYS AGAINST MEDS MYSELF BUT THEY CHANGE YOUR LIFE AND WE ONLY GET ONE. ITS OK. FEEL BETTER.
