It's interesting how pediatricians have different beliefs. I started mixing cereal in my oldest sons (now 24) formula when he was just a couple of weeks old. He was just hungry and the formula wasn't doing it. I started out with very little and worked it up to a thicker mix. He was eating solid food when he was six months old.
I did the same with my youngest who is now 15. I remember one day when he was about six months old I was at work and this girl that had a son the same age was talking about how she couldn't wait until her son was a year old because that's when her doctor had said she would be able to introduce baby food to him. I then told her that my son had been eating food for weeks and she started blessing me out telling me that her doctor told her that their stomachs were not able to digest food properly at that age.
Well, needless to say both of my boys are very healthy.
I'm not telling you to go against anything your doctor may seem as unhealthy but what I'm trying to say is that you know your child better than anyone else and if you think she is ready and want to introduce her to some light healthy foods I think it is ultimately your decision to make.
