okay, well I'm very scared. Just now I found a lump on the left side of my vaginal area. i found it when I was shaving-something I've been doing for about 2 months. I'd say the lump is smaller than a dime, but big enough to notice. Its also kinda hard. It didn't hurt all day, but now its sore (cuz i shaved over it?)
Well..PLEASE tell me what it is! I've never noticed it before, and I shaved yesterday. what could have shown up that fast? A large ingrown hair? Its not...cancer or anything...is it? Showing up in one day...?
Oh my Gosh, I'm shking right now I'm so scared. Please help!
I have never had sex or anything, I'm just about to turn 16. HELP HELP HELP!

It could be an ingrown hair, or something as nonthreatening as a pimple. If it keeps worrying you, see a doctor, but I'd suggest waiting a few days to see if a little hair-end pops out of it.

I really hope its an ingrown hair. It doesn't hurt really, only when I constantly was touching it/shaved over it to see it. I think it even went down a tiny bit. I would not be at all comfortable at the doctor for this, so I really hope it goes away. anyone else who can give me information would make me feel so much better! Thank you for your help.

    Pretty normal sweet.

We all get things like that no matter what age...

Don't stress, even nickers that are too tight around the outsides of us can cause pimples, that feel like welts, if you wear jeans a lot? They can rub, it's tough being a woman hey?

Bet your next post says, it's gone down even more.

Yes, I do wear jeans mostly every day. But I've never gotten something like this before..at least, since I've started shaving. If I did have a lump before then, I guess I would have never noticed it. It hasn't gone down any more yet, though. It really scared me when I noticed it last night. I was literally shaking..and completely miserable.
Now, though, since I've gotten these replys, and since I talked to my boyfriend(I tell him everything, he's my best friend), I've started to feel like its not the end of the world, and that I'm okay.
It's just that I'm so new to this all, becoming a woman. Its been very hard for me, and stressful. Between irregular (and longgg) periods, gross hair, being ****y, and friend problems, I just am overwhelmed. The thought of having an infection or worse down there scares me, and puts me over the edge. *sigh.* I bet everyone on this site knows exctly what I mean, and maybe was scared once too. And thats the reason I keep coming back to this site, because you all know how to help me, when I desperately need it most. Thank you all, so much. It's nice to know that I can look for help, and get it.

Well ... maybe it changes a little ... instead of that bump freaking you out, it just ticks you off. A LOT. Later in life, someone may be looking where that bump is
An infection's no big deal, just a big pain. A pill or a paste can clear up just about anything.
    Friends suck, often.
Yeah, I'm 19 (for a few more weeks anyways,) and I am going to believe Kenny Chesney when he says "these are nowhere near the best years of your life."
    You'll be fine

True, maybe a little.... "Really ticks you off". A LOT..

Mmm... no longer a teenager, and a Gemini being " a few weeks away", June baby... you know what they say about Gemini's nor do we believe in it, a bit like the blondes, seeing as i was one.

Well believe him, (Kenny Chesney) everyone, because it keeps getting better trust me....

It gets ALOT better, don't fret!

The older you get, the more you get to really, truly know your body and what it does and how it works. Then, when you see or feel something strange, you usually know the proper amount to be either annoyed or worried. A lot less things bother me now in my thirties than used to, even when I was in my early twenties.

Any kind of infection "down there" can be cleared up very easily, sometimes the creams are a little messy, sometimes its just pills. Its easy to tell you not to be scared but I don't think anyone gets giddy with excitement at going to the gynecologist. It's just one in a long list of things we have to do.

I am a very hairy person. So if it is an ingrown hair, I'm a bit of an expert: I've had ingrown hairs that formed because I shaved - or waxed - and then the area where the elastic on the sides of my underwear rubbed against where I shaved (plus jeans on top of it) caused the hair to grow in. Sometimes they were easy to pop and just pull out with a tweezer, and sometimes not so easy, but they always resolved.

I probably sound like a broken record to a lot of people, but this is my mom's advice and its worked for me time and again - put a wet, hot washcloth right on it - you have to lock yourself in the bathroom for a while, keep wringing out the cloth, rewetting it and reappling with very hot water for about fifteen good minutes. Hot water will draw out the pus if it is an infected ingrown. Sometimes you have to pop it, sometimes it releases on its own. The important thing is to try to find the tip of the hair and get a tweezer and pull it out. Put a little dot of antibiotic on it (neosporin or bacitracin or something) and just leave it alone, and don't shave near it for just a few days.

It helps to exfoliate the area with a dry loofah or shower puff (just sides and top, not your vagina) to help with ingrowns. It keeps the hair follicle clear of dry or dead skin that causes ingrowns in the first place.

    Hope that helps!!
