I have been with my now fiancee for 2 years, we live together and are getting married at the end of the year.

He has worker away for most of his working life and the whole of the time we have been together, except for the first three months we were together. He works over seas 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off. I accept that this is what he does and it does give us a good life style. He is planning on doing this for another few years and then finding work in our home town once we have reached our financial goals.

We miss each other so much when he is away. We email each other most days, text each other most nights and he phones a few times a week. It feels we are doing all we can to keep in touch but I miss him so badly and him me.

I guess I am just wanting to hear from any other people in our situation to see how they manage their situation.

My boyfriend is in the Army. We used to see each other for about a week every two months, but he just got sent to Iraq, so I probably won't see him again until September 2009.
Have you tried buying a webcam? When he was in the country, we'd call and text every day, but now that he's farther away we've looked for different ways to communicate, so we both have a webcam and the same instant messenger that is compatible with it. He hasn't gotten settled there yet, so we haven't tried it, but all the military girlfriends I know swear by them.
    Good luck!

    Thanks little
We will definately look at setting that up when he is home next.
God how do you stand it not seeing him for over a year. It makes me thankful that I at least get to see my guy almost half of the time.
Most of my friends are couples and when I see them together I really miss that he is not around, although it does keep us in a perminent type of honeymoon faze.
