Hi ladies. I too have been experiencing a lot of low back pain, am 48 and am starting to get menopause symptoms. This article might be helpful for some. Go to medscape.com and type in pain at midlife:musculoskeletal pain. You will have to register to read article. Also I have been researching the herb Macafem which comes from the maca root. Has anyone heard of this or tried it? I'm ready to try anything before this stuff gets worse. Thanks for any responses.

I have also suffered from prolonged bleeding but not the back ache thing. I would not put off going to the doctor about that. I know I hate going to see the doctor also but you must take care of yourself. As for the bleeding there are numerous solutions from drugs, HRT to a D & C. If you prefer a different approach there are also herbal remedies you might want to try. Horsetail capsules staunch bloodflow, also Vitex or Red Raspberry. Your docto may actually recommend simple Ibuprofen in a large enough dose that helps slow things down.

So much of this stuff is interconnected and so many things have the same symptoms. I never had a problem with my periods - no cramps, pms etc. Always on time. I do have a bad back and mild IBS. Now that menopause has started my timing has switched to every other month and I get a lot of the IBS symptoms and this week got nailed with back pain that took me out of work for several days. I had visited the chiropractor because of it and the back pain is centered right where multiple nerves come out of your spine and feed into the muscles at your pelvis (mine was right side). He recommended wet heat to fight the inflammation. For the lady with the pain down the left leg - that sounds like sciatica to me. Numbness and burning sensations down the leg are usually caused by that nerve. Go to a chiropractor or D.O. asap.

there is a really awesome product out there called Instead softcups, they are great for light spotting because it just sits inside you and catches what comes out... I use them for light days on my period but my mom swore by them a little while ago when she was going through it. they help so much!!
