Thumbs down Picking at my skin

Okay so this may sound really gross to some, adn trust me it grosses me out at times too but i have always had a horrible habit of picking at the skin around my finger nails. Like all around my thumbs and all. I do it the most when I'm nervous or scared or worried.

The only way I've noticed to have it reduced is to have my nails DONE.
But I'm not made outta money and i can't come with up $30 extra every month or whatever.

Ive tried a lot of times to stop it , bcuz sometimes it bleeds, they hurt and they just look gross. I hate ppl looking at my hands.

Do you know of any way to help me get rid of this habit?

Id be really thankful

It's a nervous thing... You can't help yourself, a bit like an addiction.. One you have to stop..

The only way you can do this is to ascertain WHAT makes you feel that you have to?

Work on that issue.

i dont know if this helps but i stopped myself from biting my nails and cuticles by listening to a hypnotism cd every night before i went to bed, just when you are lying in bed before you go to sleep, i also listened to another one that helped massively with my panic attacks. maybe it could help in this instance.
