Hi, I don't know if this has something to do with any skin desease. I shave under my arms and i have proper shower 2 times daily. Since some time now i noticed that my skin under my arms is getting darker. It doesnt look good and i feel embarassed. Can this be some fungal infection and how can i solve this issue. Can anyone help?

i think shaving overall makes the armpits look darker. but when u pluck it your underarms will gradually appear lighter than before. i dont its anything as serious as skin disease.

Some of the causes of dark underarms are as follows Friction due to tight blouses and tops that brush against the skin, Excessive sweating, Infections due to improper washing of underarms, Shaving, Dead skin buildup, Chemicals, alcohol and strong fragrance in deodorants. Some remedies
• Apply a paste of 1 tbsp. curd, 1 tsp. gram flour, pinch of turmeric and 1 tsp. milk on your underarms. Rinse with cold water when it dries. Apply paste of rose water and sandalwood powder on your underarms.
• Use anti-fungal powder instead of anti-perspirants. Wear cotton clothes instead. Do not shave your underarms, instead wax them regularly. It will not only remove hair but also the dead skin.
Try these i hope your problem will be solved.

Hi thx for the replies. I found out the reason for having dark pathes under my arms. Friction is one of the reasons and another is i am bit overweight so it doesn't help me. I also have these dark patches on upper part of thighs in the bikini lines. This is a skin disease called acanthosis nigricans. I am suffering from PCOS and it is said that women with polycystic ovaries syndrome have this problem. Does anyone who came accross this have been able to get rid of it ??? suggestions most welcomed
