Sometimes we need not to scratch some part of our skin wherein these red bumps are, this becomes the one that can make us look bad. And it is not just bad but really ugly though

    Default Itchy red bumps!!!

Am completely sympathetic to you all! My mom and i both have very sensitive skin and as get older gets even more sensitive.

I use cetaphil products which my dermatologist agrees with and after switching to perfume free laundry products stopped itching like crazy at night.

Face starting to itch and get red bumps. Switched vitamins and on a new birth control pill lately so these may be the culprit from within.

Realized that sleep on my stomach and hairspray or whatever gets on pillow and face on pillow..... This is bad also...

Good luck to everyone and to solutions...

If it is KP, as someone suggested earlier, I had that when I was younger. My doctor perscribed me a product that was literally 90% lactic acid. I have sensitive skin, and it really burned and stung! The reason that mine went away was that I got a serious sun burn and like 7 layers of my skin peeled off! I wouldn't suggest that as a "cure" - but there's got to be a better way than stinging through life!

I think that fragrance free laundry detergent and soap is always a good thing!

I was trying to help you with your itchy, red bumps, but mine were so bad that I had to go take a WARM SHOWER just to make them stop itching.

This is the HOTTEST part of the summer, and the bumps are so itchy that I am having a hard time functioning. Plus, I have been UNEMPLOYED for the past two months, and know that STRESS is aggrivating the bumps beyond belief. Not working is causing me to fall into a DEEP DEPRESSION.

ALL THINGS ARE TEMPORARY, and I know that these STRESSORS will pass, too. But, until then, I have a GUARANTEED SOLUTION for the horrible, terrible itchy red bumps...GOLD BOND MEDICATED BODY POWDER. No matter where the itching is, the INSTANT I apply the GOLD BOND, I am experiencing complete relief.

I jump in bed as soon as I can, before the itchy red bumps try to attack my body again. Hope you feel better soon!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I thought I was the only one with this problem. I've been under a lot of stress the lately and it never dawned on me that this might have caused the bumps. I have them on my torso, legs and arms. At first the thought was bug bites since I have been playing fetch a lot with my puppy, then it was bed bugs(my cousin's contribution), but when I had a new stress added to my life yesterday and new bumps appeared I began to wonder. Now after reading this thread I have a better idea of what it is and what it is not.

While they do itch like crazy I am trying not to scratch too much and thankfully cold water seems to help a bit. So again thank you.

OMG!! I have been going through this exact thing for the past year. It started as a small spot on my cheek bone, which I dismissed as acne, even tho I never had acne as a teenager and I am far from being one now! I used a bunch of OTC stuff and that seemed to make it worse. Last month i saw a derm for the first time and I have been doing an oral antibiotic and metro cream for the past month and I see NO difference..... but what I did notice is that it seems to be worse around my period.... like WAY more inflamed and itchy. I read somewhere once that you can be allergic to hormones in your body and when they fluctuate you react.... could this be it? Does anyone else see their rash change through out the month? I itch so bad it makes me insane! And my self confidence level is dropping rapidly. I used to have VERY beautiful skin- hardly EVER a break out growing up.... now all of a sudden my face looks like a topographic map full of huge bumps and redness.... it's embarrising. It sounds shallow, but I don't want to look like this anymore. My derm also suspects rosacia.... which doesn't make too much sense b/c it doesnt LOOK like rosacia.... the chemical peel is enticing, but I fear making it worse.... I just want to feel pretty again.... I am so glad there are other's that are going through similar symptoms... my concern is that all of you seem to not have found anything that helps.... which doesn't give me much hope!

    Default Still got them!

To reply to the last post about the time of the month... I actually have mine right now and yes I do notice them more right now than in the last few weeks. What I do to control them is, when I shower I use a wash cloth (not too abrasive of one) and I use Dove soap bars (but not the sensitive skin one, it makes it worse) and I scrub my chest, neck and jaw area (where I get the bumps usually), then I rinse and do it one more time, then, after my shower, I use Jergens skin firming lotion .... honestly, I'm not sure why this combination works, but it does! I've been to dermatologists and everything, no one seems to be able to help, which is weird considering there's so many of us with this problem. I've had the bumps for at least 8 years now ... no fun! Hope this helps!

    Default Itchy red Bumps!!!

I cannot believe how many people have responded to this thread. I have the same problem and I have been dealing with it since 2005. After many biopsies, my Dr. said that I have follicular mucinosis I hope I spelled that right). The pills and cream worked initially, but now they do not. I look ridiculous! And yes after the itchy red bumps go away they leave dark spots!! As soon as I get rid of one set of bumps a new set appears and the are always on my jaw area or around the mouth.
Oh and I have noticed that they are worst during my cycle!!! Keep me posted guys!!!

I have this same problem! Have you experienced any success with a cure? And yes, I have noticed that the bumps and itching is worst around my period! I have been dealing with this since 2004! I am so over it. After several biopsies, my derm. said that I have follicular mucinosis. I've looked and it and found pictures of extreme versions, but it does sound like what I have. I think I'm becoming immune to the meds though, because they are not working as well as they did in the beginning.
