Arrow Random small light brown mark on hip that fades and returns....?

    Hello all

ive had this mark for over 2 years now. It all started when i was sat on the beach with one of my mates. she turned to me and said 'oo is that a birth mark?' confused as i have never had a birth mark (or an obvious one) i had a look and noticed that i had (and still have) a very small, 'bone shaped' light brown mark on my left hip.

I put moisterising cream on my legs, and i had never noticed it before, so i know that when she said it, it couldnt have been a birth mark as it had randomly appeared.

I dont no whether it could be anything to do with the sun? It seems to fade to almost unoiticeable - and then suddenly returns back. I noticed that it seems to return more when im in swimming pools oddly enough?

Has any one expereinced the same thing? or something similar?

Im not worried - just curious as to what it could be?

Well all I can contribute are the ABCDE's of skin cancer. If your "mark" or mole doesn't have these characteristics (defined by the American Cancer Association), experts say it's probably not something to worry too much about:

    A- Asymmetry:
Normal moles or freckles are completely symmetrical. If you were to draw a line through a normal spot, you would have two symmetrical halves. In cases of skin cancer, spots will not look the same on both sides.

    B- Border:
A mole or spot with blurry and/or jagged edges.

    C- Color:
A mole that is more than one hue is suspicious and needs to be evaluated by a doctor. Normal spots are usually one color. This can include lightening or darkening of the mole.

    D- Diameter:
If it is larger than a pencil eraser (about 1/4 inch or 6mm), it needs to be examined by a doctor. This is includes areas that do not have any other abnormalities (color, border, asymmetry).

    E- Elevation:
Elevation means the mole is raised above the surface and has an uneven surface.

They add that other concerning signs include:
    A mole that bleeds
    A fast-growing mole
A scaly or crusted growth on the skin
    A sore that won't heal
    A mole that itches

Have any of these worrisome signs?

No thank god!! Its nothing like the points you mentioned. Its flat, smooth, no jaggered edges, and just one colour.

Just need to know why i have it now! ha!
