I don't really like the use of antibiotics to combat acne, too many side problems. What you took is a skin growth chemical. Won't hurt you but I can't see where it would benefit you. I can't really get into it on this website, legalities.

Kate21 was correct in that one that has acne needs to keep the skin dry and fight off bacteria. That's the major cause of acne, bacteria.....I'll go into it a little later.

These people above are right, keeping the skin dry is key. Most of the times, it's hair products, sweat and sometimes chemicals in cosmetics that add to acne. I had that a lot with hair gel, yuck!

Clinique is the one I recommended to almost everyone. I've tried almost every store brand and nothing ever worked because it either burned my skin, irritated it, made it worse, or broke me out even worse. There's only one store brand I can use when I run out of Clinique to use in the time being, which is a special face wash by Neutragena (forgot it's name)...

But I would definitely recommend Clinique's 3-Step system, it takes a little awhile, but after you use it continuously, it has great results.

Whenever I've acne on my face I apply toothpaste on them. I think it is one of the acne treatments that work for me. Placing a dab of toothpaste on a pimple can, sometimes, dry the spot out and reduce inflammation. As this is a cheap and easy option, it is worth trying.

I just bought the AcneFree 3-step kit. I used to use Proactiv, but because they changed it to a new formula I think it has lost it's effectiveness. So, I'm not going to pay $50 every month. So I'm going to try this and see how it works. I'll let you know how it goes!

    Hello
    Rose petal,
Acne is a common inflammatory skin disease that mainly affects the face, neck, chest and upper back. It is caused by an interaction between Hormones, bacteria and sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. Symptoms show as comedones (pimples), pustiles (lessions filled with pus) and occasionally Cysts. Acne is traditionally thought to developat Puberty but many women have acne throughtout life or it may develop in adulthood. It can develop premenstrually or may be associated with the talking or stoping of Oral Contraceptive Pills. This is possible caused by changing hormone levels.

Hi there Rosepetal, I too struggle with acne and I have tried many many things to get rid of it. I found the stridex extra strength pads to be pretty helpful and also clearacil. Those are both very strong and the only problem I had with them was that they over dried my skin. So I now use the pads and the gel, and 1 time a week I use a home made facial mask. I use Avacado and mush it up, rub it all over my face, let it sit till it's dry then I take salt (I use sea salt, but regular table salt works too) and I rub it all over my face for about 45 seconds to a minute. Then rinse. Your skin will feel like a babys butt )
